SNF Live Blog: PHI-NYG Pre-Game Open Thread

S2N here again, ready to join you for another evening of Sunday Night Football, this time between the Eagles and the Giants. Weirdness of the schedule: Dallas and the Giants have been on SNF twice in the first four weeks.

I know this photo is likely from when Al and John were still Disney employees, but it's still funny to me, as if Madden is looking ready to eat Lisa Guerrero.

OK, prepare to document any atrocities from Football Night in America here, and let's see how many times Tiki Barber can rip his former team yet again in the open thread.

(Also: Lozo is insane enough to live-blog this live-blog tonight.)

  1. if anyones got the cbs coverage of the steelers/cardinals game, the hardon dierdorf has for the cards is amazing. real objective broadcasting having a guy who is in the teams ring of honor calling the game.

  2. The San Diego collapse to KC is amusing. The crowd is chanting "MAR-TY! MAR-TY! MAR-TY!"

  4. Today is the first day I am watching a CBS NFL game since last years playoffs, and yup, they still suck. They have no pop, no zeal, I guess that is cbs for you.

Sidebar ranking the networks football broadcast overall:

    NBC...Michaels-Madden get it done

FOX...I hate to admit Buck is getting better in football with Aikman. He may be regressing in baseball however. FOX is not deep in talent however after the #1 team.

ESPN...I hate Mickey. What is interesting is how it would be without TK because he is holding everything back because his existance is pointless. Well, and Jaws not doing anymore Eagles games, just sub him out for Vermeil.

CBS...I just don't get em, sorry.

NFL Network....Given we can only judge for a few games last year, I don't think Bryant is as bad as everyone says. Is Collinsworth the best NFL TV personality goin right now? Maybe. (HBO Host, NBC Analyst, NFL Net Play by Play)

  6. Brett -- my guess is you haven't gotten a CBS game with Gus Johnson as the play-by-play. He made me want to watch and care about Oakland-Miami. That's a tough task.

  7. theres no chance of that pads/rockies game being on tv tomorrow outside of fox sports rocky mountains is there? i mean if sunday night is football night, why not preempt whats going to be a bloodbath monday night football game for a massively important baseball game

  12. TBS's announcer stable looks respectable. At least Joe Morgan isn't involved.

Mike - yeah, you gotta be careful over there.

  13. Did anybody hear the intro to the Oakland-Miami game? Gus Johnson was announcing that lightning delay like it was the final play of the Super Bowl.

  14. upon cruising over to tbs.com/sports to see info on the game tomorrow i was reminded why its still going to somewhat suck. in the middle of the baseball page is 'Click here to see full episodes of The Bill Engvall Show'

  15. HAHAHA, I have my reservations on how they are going about this whole thing too. I would have signed a big time Play by Player (Costas or if he is too busy with HBO during the week, what about Al Michaels) to do a few games just for credability. I also would appproach this thing the same way they do basketball, those emmys aren't by accident.

Nevertheless, lets wait and watch a game first.
