Hmm, This Could Work

Via Reader MG....
As of 1:08 PM, the Bengals-Chiefs game is being broadcast on CBS (in HD!) without commentators. There is no commentary. It's like playing a college football video game that isn't televised. The only announcing you can hear is the PA guy. I'm particularly enjoying it. It was a whole KC drive, a FG, and the kickoff return without any commentary at all. It was 1:16 when the Bengals took the field for their first drive, when Kevin Harlan and Rich Gannon were first heard. They made no mention whatsoever of their previous absence.
I know that CBS doesn't have sideline reporters, but this is a new development. Someone fill out a missing persons report for Kevin Harlan and Rich Gannon!!!

  3. That happened for a drive (between commercial breaks) during the Chargers game last weekend, too. It was awesome.

  4. @anon: No, I just glanced over it. Sorry. I don't remember the announcers ever cutting out, though.

  6. I don't know how old you guys are but do you remember NBC's announcerless football game. It was December 20, 1980 in a game between the Jets and Dolphins in Miami.

  7. If you turn on SAP during most baseball games besides playoff ones you get the same effect. I've never tried it on an NFL broadcast, though.
