steigerwold being called boring is waaaaay off. when the pens have the puck he is very lively and gets very excitable whenever theres anything resembling a shot on goal for them. i wouldnt be enthusiastic about the opposing team scoring either.
the team of him and bob errey is one of the best in the league, and getting to see 75ish games a year on fsn pittsburgh then being subjected to the bullshit of brett hull and ray ferraro that nbc throws out there for a few games here and there, i really learn to appreciate it
plus hes the announcer for the van damme masterpiece 'sudden death', that has to count for something
Mike, I just saw highlights of a couple of games in which the Penguins scored. Steigalwald was a little more excited, but it still sounds forced. When it's 8-2 (this last game they played), he gave a low tone voice when the Penguins scored.

any sport anouncer can make the game better or worse for a fan. in hockey i believe Dave Mishkin is fantastic, i like his passion. in soccer ..Dave O'brian..STINKS..he once said as the player shot the socceR BALL..OR WIFT ON THE BALL.. A (SWING AND A MISS) HE belongs in baseball. please O'BRIAN...go back to stickball.
There's a reason why Penguins fans lost it when Mike Lange was dumped from TV in favor of Steigerwald. Lange's one of the best ever, and Steigy is... well, not.
paul stagerwaldt is guilty of being biased, not unenthusiastic. He's always disappointed or uncaring when the other team scores.

Ken Kal (sp) who does the Wings games is truly awful. he sounds like he should still be doing high school baseball.
