Hence the "throws from third to first." See, A-Rod plays third for the Yankees. Giambi sometimes plays first. That would mean Thorne thinks those connections might somehow be awkward.

When, in fact, Giambi DIDN'T write the book, but Thorne (or you, or your husband, whichever) continued to act as if he did.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28221516.post-68508501982687253642008-03-28T11:30:00.000-04:002008-03-28T11:30:00.000-04:002008-03-28T11:30:00.000-04:00I did listen again you moron. I've heard far worse from the likes of guys like Cick Vitale, Bill Raftery and just about every ESPN SportsCenter anchor. I've listened to this twice and didn't hear anything that remotely suggested Canseco is on the Yankees. Guys can have "clubhouse talks" with anyone at anytime at any place. It's a phrase, like calling a basketball an "orange" or an assist a "dime". If you are going to take pot-shots at Gary Thorne, at least be accurate. If you think this clip is an example of bad announcing, then you are just an ASSCLOWN. Talk about bad, trying listening to a game called by Jim Nantz or Kevin Harlan. And while Al Michaels was once servicable, he too had turned into someone in love with his own voice. Joe Buck has always been a joke, as is Chip Caray.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28221516.post-91864555055563842442008-03-27T19:25:00.000-04:002008-03-27T19:25:00.000-04:002008-03-27T19:25:00.000-04:00Boo hoo people. When they have baseball coverage, when they can afford to squeeze it between mock NFL drafts, they put on the worst announcers in the game. Thorne (could it be anymore obvious that he hates the Sox?) and Phillips (How the heck did this guy become a GM?) have now taken their ineptitude worldwide, Joe Morgan was an outstanding player put a lousy announcer, and John Kruk is well.... what the hell is John Kruk doing on national TV?!?!? The only two worth anything are Peter Gammons and Jon Miller.

All this being said, again, it's all to clear that ESPN shows baseball because it has to.... and gives the bare minimum effort when it comes to putting forward quality coverage.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28221516.post-23614375678606151212008-03-26T16:13:00.001-04:002008-03-26T16:13:00.001-04:002008-03-26T16:13:00.001-04:00I am so happy someone else caught that!
