Anon - the scenario is this: Arizona's coach told his kid to foul IF THEY MADE A BASKET. This sends UAB to the line, yes, but it also decreases the chances that UAB ties the game. It's a good strategy, when used by people with more than half a working brain.

Also, the commentator was Len Elmore....a man who was, is, and always will be, a first class douchebag.

It's on the players. If a pitcher were to intentionally walk in the winning run, he'd be an idiot. If a QB were to spike the ball on 4th down, he'd be a dummy. You shouldn't need to have a sign for "don't ensure the other team's victory". Do you really think with an extra practice, or extra game strategy sessions, the game would have played out any differently?

Coach:"Okay, guys! We're down 87-86. There are 4 seconds left. That means, we have to score BEFORE those 4 seconds run out. If we score one point, we'll tie. If we score 2 or 3 points, we'll be in the lead. Any questions?"
Player #1:"Can I shoot the ball AFTER the clock runs out?"
