Charles Barkley Sits Down With Ernie Johnson To Discuss His Gambling Problems

It's not often that you get someone who is open and honest with their personal lives, especially in the Sports World these days. Whether you like it or not, Charles Barkley is one of those people and here is his sitdown with Ernie Johnson before Game Seven tonight where he discussed his Gambling issues and his desire to quit.....



From what I've gathered on Charles is that this is a serious problem and I think his comparison to someone like an alcoholic, while it somewhat makes sense, still seems like he won't entirely admit to having said problem. He gave this same speech to Trey Wingo in February of last year and there's obviously still an issue. I'd never preach to anyone (lord knows I'm not the person to talk to when it comes to Gambling problems), but I hope Chuck works this out as it's obviously a big enough deal to discuss it on-air.

    barkley just created more questions than there ever were before he said this. why is he going to stop gambling? is it no longer true that he can afford to lose large sums of money? was this just too embarrassing? did his wife or children ask him to stop? did he just think saying this would make people stop asking? i don't pretend to know, but i think it's just creating more questions.

    I like Charles and I like him addressing this, but outside of him taking responsibility I agree that he has only raised more questions. Best of luck, Chuck.

    I love Chuck but I don't believe that at all. He may stay out of casinos but he's still going to bet his buddies on the golf course or a horse track or something like that.

    He doesn't have a problem.

    He needs to stop gambling forever.

    He may or may not continue gambling in his life.

    I like Charles and I'll give him credit for discussing it. I've always been amazed someone so open about his gambling was allowed to work for a network covering the NBA.

    Ive never gambled in any seriuos way but i can understand how people get addicted to anything.... hope it doesnt end up ruining his future life .. ya know where hes starving and his family avoids him.
