ESPN The Remote Control?

They're just making stuff up now right? They have to be with this latest press release. I give you ESPN The Remote Control....just in time for Father's Day!
ESPN Consumer Products, in conjunction with tvCompass, a provider of digital media solutions, announced the release of ESPN The Ultimate Remote, an internet-connected Wi-Fi device that combines advanced home theater control and one-touch real-time access to sports, standings, team information and news.

ESPN The Ultimate Remote manages home theater components, set top boxes and IP equipment with intuitive “location-free” setup and one-handed operation, using a standard wireless connection - unlike other products that require cumbersome programming and a personal computer - in order to set even the simplest home theatres [sic].
I'm pretty sure my home theater didn't require a personal computer, but I could be wrong. My computer actually separate from my system and I use it to get standings, team information and news.

ESPN is just a marketing machine. Nothing substantive behind it.

  4. Ssh! Don't give them any ideas!

I know this will sound like a shameless plug (if not a blatant ploy to increase search engine rankings), but I was actually moved to write a blog post about "ESPN the Remote".

  8. But I thought that "TILT: the complete series" was the perfect Father's Day gift??? Now I don't know what to think.

  9. To be fair, the Harmony series of universal remote controls (I think they are the most popular brand) require you to hook them up to your pc to program them.

  10. ESPN is like the Krusty the Clown on The Simpsons. They put their name on any piece of crap regardless of its value.
