Ah live TV. At least I think they do these teasers live. Here's Scott Van Pelt and Neil Everett giving the rundown for tonight's Sports Center when Van Pelt loses it halfway through....
I rewound this about five times trying to try and read SVP's lips to no avail so if someone has any ideas leave them in the comments. Too funny though. I love how Everett just starts laughing at him. 11pm Sports Center....entertaining me since 2007.
That was live. The producers countdown in the anchors ears telling them how long they have left. SVP realized he won't make it and ad libbed. The audio person panicked a bit and killed SVPs mike early - not that anything improper was said - the audio person (possibly insturcted by the director) just killed the mike since the promo was screwed up at that point anyways.
Like you said - live TV.
What makes those 2 great - they smiled, laughed, and moved on. People relate to that and respect it. Good for them...
That's live TV for ya. I have one-way conversations(on the radio) daily and this happens to me often. Not that I have a Producer talking in my ear, but occasionally I just lose my train of thought. A good announcer takes it in stride(and somehow makes it humorous)...the best play it off like no big deal.
thats neil everett not buccigross.
ReplyDeleteWhoops....force of habit.
ReplyDeleteSomething smells like a technical glitch more than anything with this one. Don't they usually let SVP get away with this kind of thing?
ReplyDeleteUnless he started cursing.
ReplyDeleteProbably a glitch, but tonights Yankees game deserved a couple of expletives

Sort of SportsCenter related, but since this was halfway through the 1 am edition, will Buzz Bissinger write Three Days in Boston?
ReplyDeleteLooks like he said, "I don't even know what I'm saying."

ReplyDeleteI think I know what SVP said....
ReplyDelete"FUCK IT, We'll do it live."
