Last week they hired everyone, today they've sorted them into groups. Here's the rundown of TBS Announcing teams, and sorry Cubs fans....Stone and Caray are not getting back together.Chip Caray / Tony Gwynn
Dick Stockton / Bob Brenly
Ted Robinson / Steve Stone
Don Orsillo / Joe Simpson
Not bad at all and TBS has also brought on a bunch of worth field reporters (kind of an oxymoron I know) as well. Craig Sager, Marc Fein, Jose Mota, and David Aldridge will be the sideliners for the Playoffs and round out a pretty strong collection of broadcasters.
A couple other interesting tidbits....Brenly joins Caray and Gwynn for the NLCS and everyone welcome The Big Hurt to the pregame show. Frank Thomas will be working with Ernie Johnson and Cal Ripken before games.
That's fine -- we want Steve Stone back, but Atlanta can have Chippy.
ReplyDeleteWhere is Bob Costas TBS? It is solid I hope they do well. Thank you for taking these games from ESPN!!!!

This could actually be, dare I say it, good.
ReplyDeleteI can only hope that Craig Sager will be running down the 3rd base line in a trenchcoat.
ReplyDeleteHopefully this exposure for Brenly will lead to a managing gig so we can have a new color guy for Cubs gigs.
ReplyDeleteNot that Brenly was bad, but I like my color guys to bring some, uh, color?
The Big Hurt on pre-game? What the hell?
ReplyDeleteI know it won't happen, but it'd be really nice if TBS got good ratings just so Shrutebag will quit tearing them a new asshole every day.
ReplyDeleteDon Orsillo is great. He deserves this shot at national TV after doing fabulous work with Jerry Remy on NESN. His laid-back, calm, never-excited yet intriguing style will be very entertaining. Congrads to him.
ReplyDeleteWhy major channels like TBS continue to foist upon the public the annoyingly inadequate Dick Stockton for ANY sports broadcasts, much less something major like the baseball playoffs is beyond comprehension.
ReplyDeleteRon Darling is going to be doing the Cubs/D-backs. I listened to him all year do the Mets and he's great. Thanks to the MLB extra innings I've heard all these guys before and Darling IMO is by far the best.
ReplyDeleteI am watching the Red Sox, the announcers are the worst, it is making the game almost painful to watch, Is this going to continue through out the series?????????????
ReplyDeletewhere is the rem and osillo?
ReplyDeletePainful is not the word.......I'm going to bed. Maybe it will be better with coffee in the morning. This guy and beer is putting me to sleep!
ReplyDeleteGoodnight
These announcers make John Madden look like Harry Carrey...I mean flat out awful. I'm watching with 6 lifelong sox fans and a couple of yankees fans and we are all ready to just shut it off. TBS...stick to Braves games because this broadcast just sucks.
ReplyDeleteThe Sox/Angels broadcast could quite possibly be the worst broadcast I have ever heard. I would rather listen to a Britney Spears/Slayer duet...a ca pela.
