CBS Gets Their College Football Season Underway Saturday

Friday, September 14, 2007

CBS will kickoff their 7th year of SEC coverage starting this Saturday. The studio show featuring Tim Brando and AA's "good friend" Spencer Tillman is at 3pm, and Florida-Tennessee starts at 3:30.

The lead team for the 2nd year of Verne Lundquist and Gary Danielson isn't all that bad and has the luxury of a 2 week lead-in and covering the same conference they did last year (and every year). In fact I think Danielson is much better for CBS than Todd Blackledge ever was.

They have the benefit of an awesome schedule, The Army-Navy game, and a few good Bowl games (Sun, Gator).

AA welcomes you to the fray CBS and we'll see you Sunday for the Pam Ward Chronciles!

P.S.- I got a couple emails about last night's game, so if you heard anything please pass it along.

I love Lundquist; one of the best out there, IMO. And I'd take him over 99% of the guys that ESPN throws out there, to be honest. You can tell he enjoys his job and that he doesn't take himself too seriously, either. Pairing him with Danielson is a great idea, too.

You ever take a look at Fluties forehead? It juts out like a promontory on a cliff.

Hmm, let's see, aging QB is able to withstand the forces of time. Now how in the hell could he do that and not end up looking like an ape.

Danielson is good for CBS, and even better for the SEC. Using logic and reason to say that Florida belongs in the BCS championship was refreshing compared to the "I know what I saw" logic of the Disney Empire.

I used to like Verne, but he's not what he used to be. I notice him stumbling and making a lot of mistakes the last couple of years.

Regarding last night's game:

you guys are kidding about Danielson, right?

he was confused last year, didn't know the SEC, didn't know the players, and made more references to his NFL career than his college career. if you want to talk a lot of NFL, go do the NFL, Gary.

on the bright side, they haven't asked Archie to broadcast games, just a few halftime observations every now and then.
