Tales From The News Desk: Attack Of The Sprinklers!
There's nothing better than an event that causes people to laugh uncontrollably, especially one that comes on live television! A KOMU reporter was out in the field discussing ethanol level in gas, when he was unmercifully attacked by sprinklers outside of a Spirit 66 gas station. Via Warming Glow....
I'm a reporter too at KOMU, and Brandon is tremendous. He's one of our best. Yes, he was outside of the Phillips 66 on Grindstone and Highway 63 in Columbia, MO. We're all thrilled that this has gotten so much attention - in part because Brandon just graduated (from the University of Missouri School of Journalism) in May, so we just hope this gets him a job somewhere!
What Lauren and Megan (the anchors) didn't know is that he did in fact have a truck operator - they just began the show under the assumption that he would not have one. Brandon went out with the truck and set up the shot himself, and at about 4:45 his truck operator showed up, so all he needed him to do was run the camera. Hence, you can sort of hear both of them laughing when the camera tilts backwards and almost falls over!
Thanks for posting this on AA - it's been awesome to see all the positive comments about it!
That's Great! He kept reading the story. Also can't that girl see what happened?
ReplyDeleteI'm still trying to figure out how the shot fixed itself if he's out alone. Otherwise, hilarious.
ReplyDeleteHe kept on reading that script pretty easily without his glasses. Hmmmmm.
ReplyDeleteNice job, reporter. I thought the gas station's proper name was Phillips 66, that's what it's called out in Utah, Colorado, etc.
ReplyDeletethat guy sounded whiter than Stu Scott.
ReplyDeleteat least he didn't take a football square in the eyeball, so he has that going for him.
That reporter is a goddamn hero.
ReplyDeleteFantastic stuff, way to stick with. But kudos to the director switching back and forth between everybody to get reactions.
ReplyDeleteTHAT is good television.
Two female anchors? What is this world coming to?
