Your NFL Conference Championship Schedule

There really isn't anything that you don't know in this post, but I figured I'd post the Conference Championship schedule for archiving sake. For those of you that haven't clicked on NFL.com yet, and figured out what time the games are for next Sunday, this is for you!

Sunday, January 24th

New York Jets at Indianapolis Colts (CBS, 3pm) -
Jim Nantz, Phil Simms
Minnesota Vikings at New Orleans Saints (FOX, 6:30pm) - Joe Buck, Troy Aikman

  1. During yesterday's Jets/Chargers game, both Nantz and Simms seemed a little bit off. Not their best broadcast.

It also seems like they don't like each other? This is purely speculative. This seemed to argue a lot on the fumble recovery that was overruled incomplete and a few other times throughout the game. Does anyone else notice this?

Maybe they will switch up the broadcast teams next season? Move Greg Gumbel back to the #1 team?

  2. @ dcs: I don't know if I would say that Simms doesn't like Nantz, but I have been left with the impression that he likes Gumbel better than Nantz.

  3. @JFein: I see what you mean about Gumbel/Simms. I loved their call of the 2002 Snow Bowl game between the Patriots/Raiders. Simms got hit with a snow ball and still battled through it. But yesterdays broadcast with Nantz/Simms was one of their worst this season. It seemed very sloppy and contained a lot of errors. Hopefully they can turn it around in the next two weeks.

I would be surprised if they moved Jim Nantz from the #1 team, since he is the signature broadcaster for CBS, with football, college basketball, and golf.

Additionally, moving Phil Simms would be tough too. I don't think CBS has a better color analyst. I think Deirdorf, who is on the #2 team with Gumbel, is a little past his prime. The only thing that I can think of is switching Boomer Esaison and Phil Simms, but that's like switching Conan and Jay Leno....I dont think Phil would like that.

  4. These guys are arrogant elitists who haven't done one Colt game this year. Fox Sports is a better network because they are fairer to non-Northeast teams.

  5. Nantz and Simms are calling the AFC post-Championship Game and Buck and Aikman are calling the NFC Championship Game?

    thank you Captain Obvious
