Monday Night Football Week Eleven Open Thread

Monday, November 17, 2008

Who: Browns at Bills
Where: Ralph Wilson Stadium
Why: So Tony can further develop his man crush on Brady Quinn
Spreads: Bills -5.5, O/U 40
Announcers: Mike Tirico, Ron Jaworski, Tony Kornheiser

Monday Night Countdown Segments:

“Unmasked:” Marshawn Lynch

When asked to describe his attitude going into his rookie season in 2007, Bills running back Marshawn Lynch exclaimed, “Beast Mode.” His teammates feel like the description fits Lynch’s running style and Lynch went so far as to have grills made for his teeth that say “BEAST MODE” in diamonds.

ESPN the Magazine's “For Love or The Game:” Kellen Winslow

Kellen Winslow will be the subject of Monday’s “For Love or The Game”. Winslow’s wife, Janelle, and his teammate Brodney Pool battle to see who really knows Winslow better.

EA Sports Virtual Playbook: Browns Quarterback Brady Quinn

Tom Jackson breaks down how Brady Quinn's short passing game could create problems for the Bills.

(FYI- ESPN is also airing a new "This is Sports Center" spot during the game's first commercial break. The ad will star Carolina Panther's Wide Receiver, Steve Smith.)

AA's Prediction:

I've been wrong about three weeks in a row now, so I'm going to go against my better judgment and pick the Browns. I think they looked pretty solid with Quinn last week, and the Bills offense seems to be regressing as the season goes on (much like the Redskins). I'll see you a little after 8pm for the fun!

Browns 24 - Bills 14

Update: Canceling the live-blog for tonight because something came up. Enjoy the game, and I'll see you first thing tomorrow morning.

Monday Night Football Week Ten Live-Blog: Pregame

Who: Steelers at Redskins
Where: Jack Kent Cooke Stadium (I still refuse to call it FedExField)
Why: So Chris Berman can annoy Presidential Candidates.
Spreads: Skins -2.5, O/U 37.5
Announcers: Mike Tirico, Ron Jaworski, Tony Kornheiser

Monday Night Countdown Segments:

ESPN the Magazine's “For Love or The Game:” Antwaan Randle El

Redskins wide receiver Antwaan Randle El, a former Pittsburgh Steeler, will be the subject of Monday’s “For Love or The Game.” Randle El’s wife, Juane, and his teammate Santana Moss battle to see who really knows Randle El better.

EA Sports Virtual Playbook: Clinton Portis

Countdown’s Jackson takes viewers on the field to show how and why the NFL's leading rusher, Clinton Portis, has gotten off to such a fast start this season.

Unmasked: Ben Roethlisberger

In this week’s “Unmasked,” Countdown goes under the helmet to find out what motivates "Big Ben" to be one of the best quarterbacks in the game.

Obviously the biggest feature is the Barack-McCain interviews with Chris Berman at halftime. Lucky for us though, someone already put together a preview! Via Hot Clicks (very NSFW)....

AA's Prediction:

I don't even know where to start with this one. As you know, I'm a Redskins fan so any reverse/non-reverse jinx I can throw out there, I gladly would. If you add in the fact of the presidency possibly being decided and the fact the Skins are without Springs and Taylor and will possibly be missing Moss and Samuels....I'm really lost.

So here's what I'm trying the double non-reverse current presidency polls pick....

Steelers 20 - Redskins 16

(I also considered the reverse jinx photo usage of Brad Keisel injuring Jason Campbell last year, but couldn't bring myself to doing so)

World Series Game Five Live-Blog: Pregame

Wednesday, October 29, 2008

Okay folks, let's try this again. It's Game Five Version 2.0 tonight and it's a 3 and a half inning showdown with the Phillies having a chance to end this crazy thing. Just a reminder that tonight is also the night that the 30-minute Barack Obama infomercial is airing. If you don't want Politics getting all in your Baseball, then I suggest you tune in around 8:35 or so (I know that's when I am). Your particulars are below. Be sure to leave your predictions on the game and each managers moves, and I'll see you later on tonight....

Who: Tampa Bay Rays and Philadelphia Phillies
What: 3.5 innings of fury!
When: Tonight, 8:37pm (FOX)
Where: Citizens Bank Park - Philadelphia, PA
Why: So Bud Selig can postpone the game again and solidify his spot as the worst Commish ever.
Weather: It's going to be cold, and windy as hell
