Pam Ward Chronicles: Week Eight
Sorry for the delay in getting the post up, the weather has wrecked havoc on my internet and cable. We should be good to go though...

______________________________________
I think we already have a winner....

"Arkansas shot their wad last week."- Lee Corso (via Joe)
"That is a phone booth fight. What would you do in a phone booth fight."- Chris Spielman
"I would knee cap you."- Dave Pasch
(via 9er)
"Randy Edsall going for it on third-and-3."- Clay Matvick (via Tully)
"This is the point in the game where they squeeze the life out of you, like a python wrapped around your body" - Doc Walker (via JGreul)
"Ron Guenther the Illinois A.D. said Ron Turner will be the head coach next year"- Pam Ward
"U mean Ron Zook"- Ray Bentley
"Oh yea, Ron Zook, Ron Turner is the other Ron"- Pam Ward
(via J)
Andre Ware- "Ryan Mallett's body language exudes confidence."
ReplyDeleteAndre Ware about Ryan Mallett and Jevan Snead's battle: "If this were a boxing match, I'd say we were even on the scorecards early in the fight."
ReplyDeleteOn College Gameday, Lee Corso said this: "Arkansas shot their wad last week."
ReplyDelete" Jimmie Johnson in front of our favorite old guy" Pam Ward
ReplyDeleteBefore the Griese taco comment.
ReplyDelete"That is a phone booth fight. What would you do in a phone booth fight."-Spielman
"I would knee cap you."-Pasch
And I thought AA was outside of the Redskins offices with his pitch fork.
ReplyDelete"Did you just say breast plate?"-Pasch
ReplyDelete"Yes. It's a plate that covers your breast."-Spielman
What are these guys drinking this mourning?
" He changed in a phone booth on the sideline" Ray Bentley.
ReplyDelete"Randy Edsall going for it on third-and-3." (And really, why wouldn't he?) -- Clay Matvick
ReplyDeleteFrom last nights Rutgers-Army game(at West Point):
ReplyDelete"We're going to storm the dorm" - Tessitore
"I'm not storming anything, theyve got weapons here" - Gilmore
" With his Al Gore Costume" Pam Ward.
ReplyDeleteSome announcer goodness from GA Tech / UVA:
ReplyDelete"Throw it to soggy Hoggy" - Steve MArtin to sideline reporter Mike Hogewood pouring at UVA
"They fall forward" - Martin on GT's running game
"Watch the rejection here" - Doc Walker as GT's Jonathan Dwyer breaks a tackle
"Go to the unbalanced side, walk the dog"- Walker as GT scores a TD
"You want to win you gotta score a TD" - Doc Walker, UVA trailed 20-6 at the time
"He hits that one the band's playing" - Walker after UVA drops a TD pass
"UVA needs Mother Nature to be the 12th man." - Walker, maybe UVA shouldnt have kicked a FG trailing by two TDs in 4th, or give up a 10 minute drive in 3rd.
Andre Ware about Dexter McCluster: "If you reach, he will teach."
ReplyDelete"if you saw this game in slow motion you wouldnt let your kids play" - Walker
ReplyDelete"No laminated cards, he coaches by feel. He's feeling pretty good right now" - Martin on GT head coach Paul Johnson
ReplyDelete"This is the point in the game where they squeeze the life out of you, like a python wrapped around your body" - Doc Walker on GT's ground game
Pam Ward: "Juice Williams throws it to the cannon."
ReplyDeleteIt's a bell at Purdue.
"Ron Guenther the Illinois A.D. said Ron Turner will be the head coach next year"-Pam Ward
ReplyDelete"U mean Ron Zook"-other announcer
"Oh yea, ron zook, ron turner is the other ron"-pam ward
" Ron Turner will be the head coach next year" Pam Ward Ron Turner is with Chicago now.

ReplyDeletePam Ward- "Illinois is looking for something. Energy spark. Life."
ReplyDeleteBob Griese apologized for that comment he made about Montoya.
ReplyDeleteIt's a monsoon in Durham.
ReplyDeleteProbably the toughest place to play in the PAC10 for an opposing quarterback (about Husky stadium, shouldn't opposing QB's lose more than they win to be a tough place to play? 0-12 last year... Oregon is notoriously the toughest to lay for an opponent in the Pac10)
ReplyDelete(The headsets at Tennessee-Alabama aren't working):
ReplyDeleteVerne: "Well, I can tell you that the headsets aren't working but the PA system is! I can't stand listening to this song anymore!" (referring to Zombie Nation's "Kernkraft 400", now a common staple at sporting events)
That old Verne doesn't like any music made in the past 50 years, I think.
Ray Bentley talking about Illinois bad luck: "Did somebody break a mirror or eat a rabbit's foot?"
ReplyDeleteMillen: When you get two of them in there, its twice the result
ReplyDeleteThe wind is breezy down here on the field - Holly Rowe
ReplyDelete"For the UGA game, (Kiffin) would give Crompton a 1st round draft pick grade."-Danielson
ReplyDeleteThen Crompton immediately threw an interception.

ReplyDelete"The quickest way to slow a drive is a turnover, but the second quickest is a penalty." (doesn't a turnover END a drive, not SLOW it?)

ReplyDeleteEvery hair band, every new wave band, just about extinguished when Nirvana and Pearl Jam showed up here in Seattle." -- David (what does this have to do with football??)
ReplyDelete"That was a country club deflection, served up and ready to be delivered to the endzone." -- David
ReplyDeletePam Ward (2 quotes): "In good old Starkville." "We are in good old West Lafayette."
ReplyDelete"I guess we dont have to worry about Clemson having no timeouts" - after CJ Spiller returns a kickoff for TD with 0:57 left in 2nd quarter
ReplyDeleteCJ Spiller is ridiculous as a kick returner. Every game, he has at least one return it seems like.
ReplyDeleteI don't know much about Nascar, but Mark Martin owns that place. It's Martinsville, not Johnsonville, so I'm going with him. Now how's that for insight? - Matt Millen
ReplyDeleteMartin's won twice there, but that's another dumb statement by Millen about something he doesn't know.
ReplyDeleteClemson and Miami are having a good game.
ReplyDeleteI have found the Chip Caray of college football, and his name is Dave Koehn, the voice of the UVA Cavaliers. He took over for Mac McDonald in 2008, and is even worse than he was last year. Awful, just awful.
ReplyDeleteHow bad is he? Is he annoying?
ReplyDeleteWhat a hit on Michael Palmer in the Clemson game. You'll be seeing that.
ReplyDeleteDave Lamont: "Right down the fairway on that XP."
ReplyDelete"Hard to believe this game started out 0-0." -- Dave Lamont
ReplyDeleteNot really. I think, oh, EVERY game starts out 0-0.
"This Auburn football team. Undefeated, 7-0..." - Verne Lundquist talking about Alabama
ReplyDelete"Lincoln, going for the lead."
ReplyDelete:04 left, there's no way that a over 40 yard field goal goes just three seconds.
"Jacory Harris last 2 passes both went into end zone, one rigth, one wrong" - Dave Lamont threw Int returned for TD, thrn pass for TD
ReplyDeleteTodd Ellis (South Carolina radio)- "Shortsleeves kind of crowd in Columbia."
ReplyDelete"Lindsay Soto told us they got the double stack working" - Anthony Herron at Utah / Air Force, after Utah scores TD
ReplyDeletedirectly following Clemson's defeat of Miami (Fl), transitioning to the Alabama game recap. "Miami, not the only top ten team to survive a scare."
ReplyDelete"The faithful here in Provo"- Joe B
ReplyDeleteI dont think he's that clever
"the bulldogs with the first points on the board. Tim Tebow looking to change that."
ReplyDelete"so you wanna be a head coach in the nfl huh jim jorn?"
ReplyDeleteflorida-miss st
whoever is doing color commentary for the UCLA-Arizona game on Fox Sports West
ReplyDelete"Maurice Jones-Drew is all thighs"
The announcers on South Carolina-Vanderbilt are horrible.
ReplyDeleteEric Collins: "Jarvis Giles didn't play last week because he didn't pass no classes."
Bob Griese apologized to Juan Pablo Montoya and NASCAR for his remarks, and plans to do so again at halftime of all the games.
ReplyDeleteIf I was ESPN, Bob is as good as gone pronto!
"This is eventually going to catch up to Missouri. It already has earlier." - Herbstreit
ReplyDelete"A big play for Missippi State." - Lou Holtz mispronouncing Mississippi.
ReplyDeleteESPN just played an apology by Bob Griese about his taco comment during halftime of the Florida-Miss State game.
ReplyDeleteROFL at the griese apology
ReplyDeleteIt's a big deal for him, as nobody liked that joke when he made it.
ReplyDeleteEric Collins (after a Vanderbilt punt)- "Vanderbilt has to give it over on downs."
ReplyDelete"He hit it up in there good that time." - Todd Blackledge
ReplyDeleteEric Collin's voice cracked on the Jeffery touchdown.

ReplyDelete"Florida and Alabama are the top 2 teams, but neither is number 1." Jessie Palmer
ReplyDelete"It was an EPIC seesaw battle in the ACC," Jesse Palmer
ReplyDeleteWhat a finish in East Lansing.
ReplyDelete"How do you make up for a wrong?" - Craig James
ReplyDelete"Uh.." - Mike Patrick
"You put a right in there." - Craig James
"They smacked Cal right in the mustache!" Craig James
ReplyDelete"You gotta get that one out there hard and fast and firm, or not get it off at all." - Craig James
ReplyDeleteVideo of Tacogate
ReplyDeletehttp://nobathroombreaks.com/2009-articles/october/bob-griese-and-taco-comment-video-another-old-announcer-keeping-me-down.html
@Joe- I mean he's like Caray; overeffusive about everything, mistake-ridden in his calls, and full of shit.
ReplyDeleteTalking about Juice Williams the Illinois qb
ReplyDeletePam Ward-Well weve had good juice and bad juice today
Ray B.-now we just need some solid juice
Kirk Herbstreit during Texas' opening drive against Missouri:
ReplyDelete"He just slid in there and got some penetration."
Zook, Turner...close enough
ReplyDeleteat least she didn't say Jeremy
