Hopefully this isn't a spoiler for you, but John Terry just headed home a goal on a free kick send from David Beckham to put England up 1-0 in a friendly against the U.S. today (or this evening in England)...
You could see the relief on his face after that one and every teammate came up and gave him a hug. Good stuff and nice goal.
john terry is still a twat
ReplyDeleteHe blew the biggest kick he will probably ever have in his career. I'm pretty sure this goal in a meaningless friendly didn't do anything to make up for that.
ReplyDeleteWhy in the name of all that's holy did they pick American's to broadcast this? I admit, that as an American myself, that maybe I don't know as much about football as the rest of the world, but 'near post'? Isn't that pretty much a hockey term?
ReplyDeleteEither way, I always prefer hearing rugby or football games to have broadcasters from the UK or Ireland. It just sounds right, somehow.
JP and Harkes were on the Wembley? Bristol?
ReplyDeletePretty sure it's called the near post everywhere.
ReplyDeletesanta, thats just as much a football term as ice hockey. and john harkes is one of american soccer's best captains-- led the team in the 90s.
ReplyDeletebut i agree with mike, this doesnt hide the fact that terry slipped during his biggest moment
can't wait for Euro 2008!
whatever, as sad as it is pretty much anything sounds great after dave o'brien
ReplyDeleteI guess I stand corrected. It just sounded so wrong...
ReplyDeleteEngland is not in Euro '08 nor does Avram Grant still have a job. Terry's goal didn't change either of that.
