Wilbon: "Threesomes Keep It Interesting"

Friday, December 12, 2008

When I first got an email with the above quote, I assumed that there had to be some sort of joke involved with the comment. But no. Not joke at all. Tony was asking Michael Wilbon if he had any wedding advice for Shelden Williams and Candace Parker, who recently eloped, and he had this to say....

So that's why he was hanging out at those porn star parties! But hey, I'm not one to judge. Like Kornheiser said....good for you.

(Thanks to ES for the tip)

At least Kornhole didn't say it.
Right before PTI tossed it to SportsCenter, Wilbon also got in a "butterscotch" suggestion.

I think Wilbon just wanted an extra day off from work. Remember when TK ended up on "vacation" after telling Wilbon, "Wouldn't YOU like to get it done under Oprah?"

That's pretty sweet you got that clip. All we need is some behind the scenes Boomer deux deux deux-esque footage and we're set.

In this day and age of testosterone driven oneupsmanship regarding sports journalism, Wilbon simply said something which he thought was par for the course for "Pardon the Interruption" and ESPN in general. Just as Kelly Tilghman, Bonnie Bernstein, Johnny Miller, et al. have discovered, however, is that there is a limit to how colorful color commentary can be. Granted, the views expressed by the aforementioned (as well as by others chronicled in your blog) personalities may not necessarily express the views of their respective employers, but they are certainly encouraged in an atmosphere where decorum is obligatory and bluster is expected.
