Breaking: Fox Replaces Baldinger With Lynch

There was a rumored fight for John Lynch between the NFL Network and ESPN, but in the end it was the network that originally courted the former NFLer, that ended up with him. John Lynch will be going to FOX this Fall, while longtime analyst Brian Baldinger is being shown the door.

While the hire for FOX is definitely a high-profile get, you all know that I'm always wary about networks throwing former players into the booth right away. As far as Baldinger goes, he was always hit or miss. He'd either say something that was completely on point, or spend five minutes making zero sense. He was however, a staple on the network, and it will be interesting to see how the pairing are affected by his departure.

Update: I forgot to add that Newsday's Neil Best predicted this about three weeks ago. Bravo sir!

  1. Baldinger already has a new job with Compass Media Networks who will be taking over the Sunday afternoon DH radio package. He will be working with NJ Nets radio announcer Chris Carrino. Lee "Hacksaw" Hamilton will also handle PBP for this outlet.

  2. Hacksaw is back? Better get ready for a lot of PBP calls like this...

"Everybody into the pattern, the receiver catches the ball down field and is run out of bounds near the goal line!"

  4. Baldinger was OK, but was he really the low man on the Fox totem pole??? I thought that that spot was reserved for Siragusa.

  6. John Lynch has candor and he really is a smart guy. All of us Broncos fans love him, so we wish him nothing but success. Pending on how our defense plays, we may wish he was still in orange and blue, but good luck, Lynch!

  7. Who said Baldinger was fired by FOX?

  8. "Baldinger was OK, but was he really the low man on the Fox totem pole???"

Of course not. His name isn't JC Pearson.

  9. I wonder if they are preparing to move Moose and Troy into the same booth. That would be hilarious. J.C. Pearson is the worst analyst on FOX. I wonder what Joe Buck is going to be doing since he is doing more baseball games this year than in past years.

  10. For the love of God & Chris Schenkel, can Fox please show Dick Stockton the door? Once functional, he is now confused and FUBAR. MLB, NFL and even NBA, he and his disconcerting hair plugs are everwhere. He makes Hubie look youthful. NO MORE DICK. Chant it with me.

  11. Stockton is terrible and old. Bring in a west coast guy. Baldinger I never cared for. What Fox should do is promote Charissa Thompson to the number one team and demote Pam Oliver.

  12. This change is part of a bigger reorganization/shakeup with the NFL on Fox this coming season (see Fox Sports Demotes Lead NFL Director, Splits Legendary Team ).

Lynch will be part of a totally reconstituted production team.

  13. Demote Pam Oliver? She's still a good reporter and better yet, she's hot!

  14. Brad, Zoe Saldana of Star Trek and Sage Steele of ESPN are hot black women. Oliver has been around too long.
