GO BACK TO JERSEY! In all seriousness, the kid looks amazing and the U.S. Team should find a way to pay him off and get him back home. As far as the game goes, I enjoyed the entire contest, but I honestly had to mute it in the second half because the fans decided to continuously play these horns that turned the stadium into what sounded like a beehive.
I'm sure most people didn't have much hope for USA, given the group that they're in, but I thought they had a shot there for a second. One of these days, we'll be allowed to play Italy with eleven players.
That's actually good sign that the Italians are stealing players from us. He can stay or go, but the world needs to understand that our guys are getting better and better. I can't wait until we finally win the World Cup. It might not be '10, or '14 but it will happen.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Pip. I would rather see someone with starting talent on our side, but now that he decided he doesn't want to be here, screw him.
ReplyDeletehow about those horns or whatever that played throughout the ENTIRE game. I mean WTF. it was so annoying i couldn't watch it for more than 5-6 minute intervals.
ReplyDeleteTo be fair an Italian club offered him a slot at 13 and he and his dad went for it. U.S. Soccer didn't show any interest in Rossi until the Italian club system went through the trouble of developing his talent and he was playing for Man U. Much too late; he'll have more loyalty, soccer-wise, to the country that showed interest in him as a high-level talent.
ReplyDeleteGiven that I understand picking the dirty bunch of floppers, but it hurts given the U.S. Soccer Federation's lax efforts then of trying to find legit world-class talent.
But it is fun to mock him for the choice.
You people understand nothing about soccer. First off, the USA did not play a great half as you all think they did. Their only goal came off of a penalty shot! The team is good at playing a physical game, but as far as actual skill...they still need a ton of work. The Italians dominated the second half! As far as Rossi is concerned...any smart person given the chance to play for either Italy or USA would definitely choose Italy! Not to mention it had always been his dream to play for the National Italian team. Besides, your team shouldn't depend on one player. Even if the USA team doesn't have Rossi, they should be able to beat the Italians if they were talented enough.
ReplyDeleteP.S. Being down one man should not be used as an excuse for losing a game. That red card was well deserved. I also think that the foul from Chiellini deserved a red card, and the match should have been 10 on 10...but it wasn't. Either way, a GOOD team can play a game of 10 vs 11. If the USA played such a "great" first half with ten men...then why couldn't they win the game???
Rossi will never play for the US.
ReplyDeleteAs the rule states, once a player plays for the under-21 national team, that is his team forever. There is nothing the US can do about it.
For a player that has played in Europe these last few years, it would make sense that he would want to play for an amazing national team (if he has the ability to play which he does)
Thanks so much, Stella. You really added to the discussion by pointing out that 10 vs. 11 isn't a disadvantage. Obviously. And, of course, a goal on a penalty kick isn't worth nearly what a non-penalty goal is. You're brilliant. Ignore what happened to Jozy. Thanks again for informing us about what really happened. You're a genius. And you clearly know what Rossi was thinking when he decided to go to Italy instead of being the savior for the U.S. team in the largest sports market in the world. Thanks so much for sharing this brilliant insight into his decision. And, of course, the US could beat the cheating, lying, secret-spray loving, flopping Italians if they were "talented enough." Great f-ing comment.
ReplyDeleteP.S. You suck.
Meravigliose, Azzurri! Io spero Italia vicinero sopra tutto otre squadri!
ReplyDeleteStella, if you are a USA fan, revoke your fandom and go be a plastic Euro fan. Your snobbery is one of the reasons people dislike soccer and you're belief that talent wins all is perhaps the largest load of BS in your entire post.
