People Don't Seem To Like This Chris Rose Guy
Thursday, November 05, 2009
I've never had any feelings for FOX's Chris Rose, one way or another, before. That is until FOX decided that he's their "Ernie Johnson" and put him in front of the camera every chance they got. He's really a terrible announcer, but he hasn't really had the time or training to even be considered one. He has however been a host/interviewer before, and based on last night's postgame performance, I think we can officially say he isn't very good at that either.
Chris not only decided to address Derek Jeter as "Jeets", but he continually tried to go with a GPS joke about the parade route, thus confusing the players to no end. If you hop into Twitter and search for Chris Rose, you can read some of the reactions to his stellar work....
- Chip Caray, congrats. The worst postseason broadcast performance now goes to Chris Rose. What a complete embarrassment.
- How obnoxious is it that Fox's toolbag Chris Rose?
- Chris Rose is a grease fire as an anchor/reporter. It's like casting Jim Carrey in a serious role.
- Chris Rose should be out of a job tomorrow
- chris rose suuuuuuuuux
- I have no idea what Chris Rose was talking about, neither did Jorge or DJ.
- I hope Chris Rose asks more players how they feel and to soak it in.
- Chris Rose should stick to poker commentary
I love how it took a World Series win for people to realize how annoying Chris Rose can be. My personal favorite moment from the postgame was that Mariano Rivera had to bring up the retirement question by himself, and then answer it. Just terrible.
With that said, FOX's attempt at the Series wasn't all that bad this year. I still think that Tim McCarver doesn't know what he's talking about, but he does have his brief moments of genius. And Joe Buck was surprisingly tolerable for once.
Head to Deadspin for some more tweets about Rose....

MLB On FOX To Have Ten Minute, On-Site Pregame Show
Wednesday, April 08, 2009
The MLB on FOX's pregame show was just a complete trainwreck. The hosts and analysts were pretty boring, it was way too long and the set looked like it was from the 1970s. Well all that is going to change this year as the pregame show will be cut down to only ten to twelve minutes, and the program will be hosted at the "Game of the Week". According to SBD, Chris Rose will be your host....
When Fox begins its 14th season as a broadcast partner of MLB Saturday afternoon at 4:00pm ET with three regional games, there will be a different look at the beginning of the telecasts. The net will debut a pregame segment hosted by Chris Rose that emanates from the site of one of the games. Fox Sports President Ed Goren today in a conference call said of the decision to eliminate the 30-minute pregame show that preceded coverage in years past, “Like every other business, whether it's newspapers or other broadcasters, there was certainly a need to tighten up our broadcast and focus on sales for the game.”I really don't think that FOX's problem was with the timing of the show itself, but rather who they employed to be on it. This however is probably the most cost effective way to handle things, as no one really cares about pregame shows outside of College Gameday these days.
Goren: “The pregame in the past, for the most part, hasn’t had any national inventory. So we decided that, in this environment, certainly we weren’t going to come on at 3:30.” Goren also said that current coverage on other networks – including ESPN, FSN and the new MLB Network – serves the role of the traditional pregame show. Goren: “There’s a tremendous amount of baseball coverage on a daily basis today before you even get to the Internet. Doing the weekly show for a half-hour really isn’t as significant as it has been through the years.”

Tony Kornheiser Thinks A Matt Millen Led Booth Would Be The Best In The Business
Tuesday, January 06, 2009
Tony and Matt Millen have had a long relationship, and even as Millen was destroying the Lions, it was still tough for the PTIer to say anything bad about the guy. Kornheiser thinks so highly of Millen that he said yesterday that a booth that adds him as an analyst would be the best in the business. Even better than the MNF team. Via Fanhouse....
"It's fair to ask the question, 'If you're so smart, why didn't you ever win? But Matt Millen is great on TV. Not good, he's great. The booth that he walks into will become the best booth. Even if he walks over my body and sits in my seat, it's going to become the best. He's just great at it, and in six months or less people will forget."- Tony Kornheiser
I personally enjoy Jaws more, but during some of the later games this season, he started to get on my nerves. Tony is right about one thing though, replacing him with Matt Millen would make the MNF booth infinitely better. Hell you could replace him with Pam Ward, and it would be better. Well maybe not Pam....let's say FOX's Chris Rose.

FOX Adds A Coach To The Studio Coverage For Championship
Monday, January 07, 2008
Just a brief note from a FOX Sports Press Release but apparently Chris Rose and Jimmy Johnson will have a guest tonight. They will be joined by a current NCAA coach during their pregame and halftime shows for tonight's BCS Championship Game coverage.
Urban Meyer will be on the set to get you hyped for a night full of band shots and Thom Brennaman calling LSU, Hawaii. Live-Blog and/or Open Thread (haven't decided yet) will start around 7:30, and hopefully Meyer gives us something exciting tonight (unlike Herm Edwards).
