Michael Irvin Had A Gun Pulled On Him Monday Night
Wednesday, January 14, 2009
I don't know what it is about Football players and guns getting pulled on them, but former player and radio host, Michael Irvin, is the latest to have a run-in with an armed assailant. Getting a gun pulled on you is the scariest thing in the world, but when it's as random as this, it has to be that much more terrifying. Lucky for Irvin, he knew his Cowboys enough to calm the man down. Via the Dallas Morning News....
A passing motorist pointed a handgun at former Dallas Cowboy Michael Irvin as he drove in Far North Dallas on Monday night, according to a police report. How about that? Knowing Sports can actually save your life! Thank goodness that the guy wasn't an Eagles fan living in Dallas. That conversation might have taken a turn for the worse if Irvin had brought up T.O.
The Pro Football Hall of Fame member was not injured. He told police he stopped at a red light in the 18200 block of Marsh Lane, near the Bush Turnpike, about 9:30 p.m., when the driver of the vehicle next to him rolled down his window, the police report said.
Irvin put down his window because he thought someone wanted to talk to him and saw the passenger in the other vehicle raise a gun, the report said. Irvin said in an interview Tuesday night that he feared the men had planned to rob him and changed their minds when they saw who he was.
“The passenger pulled out a semiautomatic and I knew what time it was,” Irvin said. “But he said ‘Oh, that’s Michael Irvin, with the Dallas Cowboys.’”
Despite being scared, Irvin said he tried to keep the conversation going.
“So we started talking about the Cowboys and everything,” he said. “Then they got back on the highway.”
“I tell you what, I’m glad he was a Cowboy fan,” Irvin said.

Pacman Set To Sue ESPN
Thursday, January 08, 2009
By now, you've all heard that Adam "Pacman" Jones was dropped by the Dallas Cowboys, and that it's been alleged by ESPN that the cornerback was involved in yet another strip club shooting in June of 2007. Well last night Pacman denied all of the allegations and said he would sue ESPN....
The June 2007 shooting occurred outside a suburban Atlanta strip club. One of the shooting victims told "Outside the Lines" that he had a dispute with Jones inside the strip club and that not long after he and the two others left the club, a hail of bullets struck their car. The NFL knew about that incident, but charges were never brought against anyone because the victims did not see the shooter.Man, oh man. ESPN better be damn sure they're right on this one. Even if they are, it's a huge gamble because if he's found not guilty for lack of evidence (which seems to be where this is heading), they're the ones with egg on their face. Of course, the Cowboys releasing him is a good sign that the case could be a strong one.
"Outside the Lines" obtained information that police, investigating a separate Atlanta-area case, had been told by an informant that Jones ordered the June 2007 shooting following his dispute with one of the men. Police have said while the case remains open they are not actively investigating.
Jones denied the report and told the Dallas Morning News: "It will be a lawsuit in a week against ESPN. That's stupid. It's so stupid I have no more comments."

Mike Patrick Brings The Funneh During The Cap One Bowl
Friday, January 02, 2009

I still think it's a bad idea to joke about guns, but I have to say that Mike Patrick's line, during the second quarter of the Cap One Bowl, cracked me the hell up. The Bulldogs were struggling to put together drives, and after a third down penalty, Mr. Britney Spears had this to say. Via Detroit Free Press' live-blog of the game....
7:07: Michigan State’s defense looks as good as it has all season. A great showing on that last drive. Georgia managed only three yards on that possession. Between Stafford, Moreno, Green and Mohamed Massaquoi, Georgia should be doing a lot more on offense than they’ve shown thus far. He's obviously been planning that one for days, and the uncomfortable silence that followed probably didn't make him feel too good, but it still got a spit take out of me. I can't seem to find the video at the moment, so if anyone has it....please send it along and I'll throw it up.
ABC’s Mike Patrick just said that Georgia, “is pulling a Plaxico (Burress), they just keep shooting themselves.” Don’t know if we’ll get a better quote all day. I wonder how long he has been preparing that one.

Charlie Weis Is An Assassin
Friday, May 23, 2008
I love when photos like these end up online. Of course there's a back story, but we'll get to that after the pics....

It would be fun to take these out of context, but they're actually from a trip that Charlie Weis took to Germany and the Middle East to visit with soldiers. He does really look like he knows what he's doing though.

At a shooting range in Las Vegas of course.....
That is just about the most hilarious thing I've ever seen. The Phil Collins was a very nice touch. Also, who gave the go ahead for Spence to go to Vegas while I have to freeze my ass off in DC?! Mottram!!!
Spencer is going to be providing Sportsbook updates all day over at TSB, so be sure to head over there for more hilarity.
