Create Your Own "One Shining Moment"

Friday, March 21, 2008

Via Sports Biz comes the best idea I've ever heard. CBS is going to let you create your own "One Shining Moment" at the end of the Tourney....

CBSSports.com is allowing fans to create their own highlight clip set to the song "One Shining Moment," which will play for the 22nd straight year at the end of this year's tournament. Last night, I caught up with "One Shining Moment" composer David Barrett who licensed the rights to CBSSports.com for the highlight clips this year. "I'm really glad CBS decided to do something with this," Barrett told me.

Barrett said that he does receive checks from iTunes as a result of cashing in off the song, but "it's not like I'm doing as well as the girl who was with Eliot Spitzer," Barrett said, making reference to Ashley Dupre, who reportedly made more than $200,000 in digital downloads in a week.
I really wish I could create one that would just repeat Adam Morrison crying over and over for the length of the song. How funny would that be? Okay not that funny but entertaining. Or just throw in that Wichita State cheerleader for the hell of it.

Am I the only one who thinks "One Shining Moment" is an awful song, and doesn't care for the montage at the end of the NCAA's? Even if you do enjoy the highlight reel, the song itself is pure, unadulterated tripe.

It isn't that its a horrible song, but that its an old ass song. It has a total 80's power ballad feel to it (Ala Whitney Houston's "The Greatest Love of All" or something equally cheesey). Its just an 80's Jam, that they've never updated.

Honestly though, would you like to hear the Timbaland Remix? I'd fucking kill myself.
