ESPN To Air 14 Movies At The Tribeca Film Festival
Wednesday, March 21, 2007
I was unaware that ESPN put anything else out there besides craptastic films such as "3", The Junction Boys, and Codebreakers. Well apparently they do. ESPN plans to make a "splash" at the Tribeca Film Festival with 14....count em....14 films.
I've never been to a film festival, but that seems like fun doesn't it? Sitting around with hipster movie critics arguing over Woody Allen roles. Okay that doesn't sound fun.....
Tribeca Enterprises and ESPN unveiled the 14 feature-length films, including 12 world premieres, to be shown during the inaugural Tribeca/ESPN Sports Film Festival April 25-May 6 during the annual Tribeca Film Festival. NBC’s Tiki Barber will serve as an ambassador and will participate in “No Pain ... No Gain,” a panel discussion on his new broadcasting career. The festival will also feature a “Sports Saturday” on May 5, which will include a BMX bike jump from ESPN, an NBA Pavilion, representation from the Jets, Giants, Islanders, Mets, Devils and Red Bulls and tennis clinics through the USTA.
Wait....is this a film festival or the X-Games? And Tiki Barber is there??? I'm really confused now. Hopefully the movies will clear up the confusion.....read the list after the jump.
The List of Films:
Chavez- A documentary on boxer Julio Cesar Chavez
Chops- A competition of high school jazz bands from across the country
Doubletime- A look at the world of competitive jump roping

The Grand- A mockumentary of poker
The Hammer- A comedy about an aging boxer fighting again after 20 years off

Umm yeah.....okay. Let's recap...Old Boxers, Jump rope, High School Baseball, Barbaro, A mockmentary (those are ALWAYS good), more boxing, video games, Stomp the Yard 2, Soccer, Soccer, Skiing, and Tennis.
Those ALL sound like winners.
Not included on the list but in the works are the following.....
Bald and Beautiful- The story of one Nerdy Football Analyst's Dating Life
A Man, A Cellphone, and A Plan- A tale of one man's journey into the unknown.

Oh hell....I'm stopping while I'm ahead. Plus I think you could do a much better job than me anyway(s). What's your ESPN Movie titled?

Yeah man...ESPN sucks. And film festivals suck too. Everything ESPN does sucks, right? So this just sucks. Don't all of those movies sound sucky? I think they do. I've never been to a film festival, or tried to do anything other than sit around in my underpants all day long and criticize, but that's because I know sucky, sucky crap when I see it. I don't even need to see it to know it's crap. Sucky ESPN.
You know what else sucks...spending the time to anonymously comment on a site you apparently hate...yeah man.
And that underpants line is real original. You got me with that one.
Yeah..anonymous guy! You suck. You suck for coming here. And your insults are tired and sucky, just like ESPN and movies.
Yep...you got me again. Keep hitting refresh though...my Statcounter loves it, and why be anonymous? Let's introduce ourselves....I'm AA and I suck. And you are?
I've seen two of the movies at the SXSW film festival this year. Doubletime was pretty entertaining and fun. But, the best movie I've seen in a long time was King of Kong. Gotta see it to believe it.
