Eric Karros' Hair Is Something To Behold
Monday, April 13, 2009
There's really nothing that you can add to a photo like this, but I'd really like to know when Eric Karros' hair decided to come to life and decide to do stunts like this on camera. Via The Sporting Blog....
Wow....just wow.

MLB On FOX, Cutting Pregame Show
Wednesday, December 10, 2008

I have no idea what will happen to the likes of Jeanne Zelasko and Kevin Kennedy, but FOX is cutting out it's Sunday pregame show for the upcoming 2009 season. According to LA Daily News' Tom Hoffarth, the network's losses over the past few years are more than likely the main cause....
Fox sources have confirmed that the network will drop its Los Angeles-based Major League Baseball pregame show for next season as part of a network-wide cost-cutting move, and Fox Sports chief Ed Goren informed all the talent about the decision just before Thanksgiving.I'm not one to pile on, but if there was ever a pregame show to be cut, it was this one. No one ever watched it, and the personalities were just downright annoying at times. It looks like Zelasko and Kennedy will be absent next year while Karros goes back in the booth.
Some of it has to do with the fact that the network lost up to $50 million on its MLB coverage in '07, no doubt helped along by the less-than-attractive World Series, and that the pregame show hosted by Jeanne Zelasko and including Kevin Kennedy, Eric Karros and Mark Grace, never made money with national ad sales (they were sold by the local affiliates, rather than the national ads that are seen on the Fox NFL pregame show).
The other great thing that comes out of this decision is now FOX can possible just start World Series games at 8pm, instead of jerking us around for a half an hour. Let's hope they don't bring it back for the Playoffs.

Actual (paraphrased) quote from Fox's Eric Karros today during the late innings of the Red Sox-Orioles game:"This Baltimore team, they really make you get all 27 outs to beat them."
Is Steve Lavin Friends With Eric Karros?
Tuesday, February 27, 2007
Lost in all of the Pat Summitt/Tennesse stuff (video below) was a great showing by Michigan at home against Michigan State. Part of the way through the game Steve Lavin was joking with Brent on his first and middle names......what happened next can only be described as very very odd.
Lavin begins by busting on Musburger's middle name (which is Woody). Lavin jokingly admits he gots from the production truck. From there Brent brings up Google, and Lavin throws in YouTube. Well that's when it gets weird.......
Don't know if you remember this Deadspin piece on Karros and Andrews, but Lavin one-ups our friend Eric at the :54 second mark.
"Go look up Erin Andrews on YouTube......My Goodness."- SL
Not sure where Stevie was going with that one, but it comes off awfully sexist. We make light of Erin Andrew's good looks, but she really is a good reporter. It's one thing to be ogled on the internet, but to be called out by your co-workers is a little uncalled for.

Here's the Pat Summitt Video......it was actually pretty boring. I respect Tennesse's school pride, but that was stupid.

Familiar Faces In New Places
Friday, January 19, 2007
Well there aren't a lot of people around today (sitemeter tells me so....I hit refresh every 5 seconds), but those not here will miss out on this sweet announcer news. FOX Baseball might have a new team, TBS may get a HOFer, and ESPN has a new anchor.
FOX is in discussion with Eric Karros, Mark Grace, and Joe Girardi to place them as the #2 team behind Buck and McCarver.
Fox Sports has targeted Mark Grace and Eric Karros, along with the previously reported Joe Girardi, as potential analysts for its MLB coverage, sources have told NYP TV Sports. This has to be the biggest collection of slightly above average MLB players in one place. Grace and Girardi could be okay, but I can't stand Karros. Luckily I'm on the East Coast and the only games FOX shows here are Yankees-RedSox ones. And we all know that Buck wouldn't pass up and opportunity to perpetuate that craptastic rivalry.

The HOFer in question is Cal Ripken. TBS is going after him hard, and with good reason. I've seen/heard Cal on local O's broadcasts and he's ten thousand times better than Jim Palmer.

Kenny Mayne recently got an extension and will be back on SportsCenter soon. The newest anchor though is Not to get all racial on you, but ESPN has finally made themselves look good after months of bad press. Hiring a female is one thing, but a black female is an especially good move for them from a PR standpoint. This isn't to take anything away from Sage though.....I like her (and you don't hear that from me that often).
