All of us watched NBC's coverage of the Super Bowl, and I think most (if not all) of us can agree that Rodney Harrsion's performance as an analyst was less than stellar. Sure there was a great segment on the "David Tyree Catch" involving him, but for the most part he didn't really blow me away with his "analysis".

Well today comes the news, that not only Harrison is being considered by multiple networks, and could even replace the rumored to be fired Jerome Bettis at NBC. Via the Boston Herald....

Harrison represents a trickier case. He has not played a full season since 2004. He turns 37 in December and appears to be paying the inevitable price that comes with his take-no-prisoners style of play.

Because he’s feisty, fearless and opinionated, Harrison has drawn interest from the broadcast networks and could easily land a studio role. Anyone who saw him on the NFL Network during Super Bowl week knows he’s a natural in front of the camera. But Harrison has not yet publicly shut the door on another comeback, and for the time being he appears to be limiting his options to the Patriots, though the Atlanta resident’s hometown Falcons always could be in play.

Before we get into this, it needs to be noted that this rumor is coming from John Tomase. He who claimed the Pats were involved in walkthrough tapings of the Rams. So I would tread lightly when taking it as fact. However, this wouldn't necessarily be a bad move for NBC.

Yes, I've said that NBC need not hire anyone to replace Bettis. But, that was before we learned that Cris Collinsworth was heading to the booth to replace Madden. With just Costas, Tiki, Olbermann and Patrick (and the random appearances from Peter King), the set would seem rather empty. Harrison might be worth a tryout.

This is just speculation, but it's being WIDELY speculated today. Jerome Bettis will not have his contract renewed by NBC, and will be left out in the cold come this season on the network. Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald mentioned this when Madden's retirement announcement came down, and now Neil Best is reporting the same thing....

Three years after his much-ballyhooed, post-Super Bowl, announced-during-the-Winter Olympics hiring, it is likely NBC football analyst Jerome Bettis will not have his contract renewed for the coming season and beyond.

Late last season NBC moved Bettis and Tiki Barber out of its crowded studio and into the field to serve primarily as well-connected reporters.

If NBC has a replacement in mind, I do not know who he is.

While I normally would think that a network would love to make a huge splash like this, it makes no sense for NBC. They already have twenty people on the payroll, and not nearly enough studio space or time to put them on air. As for Bettis, you knew it was a matter of time. The guy is extremely likeable, but he really just didn't belong on television.

Athletes and performers occasionally step in into the "Spirits Game". After the Super Bowl, Hines Ward got a Steelers' version of Crown Royal for all of his teammates, but it definitely wasn't created just for him. Another Steeler however, had a bottle presented to him with his likeness on it, and that person is Jerome Bettis.

At his 37th birthday party, Bettis receive a a personalized bottle of Jose Cuervo Platino Tequila, and PSAMP has the photo....



Just gorgeous, and I'm of course jealous. I wouldn't even need my likeness on a premium bottle like that. Hell, I'd take my face on the side of a can of "Beast" or "Natty Boh"! Now that would be awesome.

Wow. How about this little bit of breaking news for a Monday afternoon? NBC is going to bring on Dan Patrick to work with Olbermann during his highlight section during halftimes of the network's Sunday night games....

Dan Patrick, who left ESPN last year to create his own syndicated radio program and write a column for Sports Illustrated, will join NBC Sports where he will be reunited with Keith Olbermann to call the N.F.L. highlights on “Football Night in America.” NBC is scheduled to make the announcement at 2 p.m. Eastern.

NBC is looking to recreate the chemistry and quirky humor that Patrick and Olbermann demonstrated when they were co-anchors on ESPN’s “SportsCenter,” which they dubbed “The Big Show.” Olbermann joined “Football Night” last year, but is best known now as the host of MSNBC’s nightly “Countdown” program.

I love the two together as much as the next person but it just makes zero sense to hire more people for that studio show. This hire makes seven employees that currently work on the show and that's just way too many cooks in the kitchen. I wish nothing but fun times for the two, but I don't know how they're going to get to say what they want with Costas, Collinsworth, Bettis, Barber and Peter King vying for airtime as well. It'll be interesting.

This was the video that I mentioned at the start of last night's NBC telecast and I really need your help to figure out what the hell is going on. Keith Olbermann goes into an old clip of Cris Collinsworth trying to impress a model with his losing Super Bowl ring, which is hilarious. But what is all of this Tab nonsense at the end? Actually here's a better question.....They still make Tab??? That stuff was worse than Sam's Choice Cola. Also did Cris have his pinkie finger out when drinking a soda? No wonder she left the Country.

What it is...I have no idea. Maybe it's just me, but I'd like my Football with a little less anger. It is just a "game" after all. I don't care if we are talking about Mike Vick....no one ever needs to be THIS serious....

I'm so confused. So I'm supposed to hope that Vick comes back soon why? Because jail sucks? Isn't that the whole point? Someone help me out here.

Also, Jerome Bettis' orchestrated explanation of how he wasn't calling Coach Cowherd out was the biggest hunk of garbage ever. I can't believe I'm saying this, but....
