Dottie Pepper Blames Solheim Cup Comment On A "Technical Glitch"
Monday, September 17, 2007
Ex-LPGAer, and Golf Channel Analyst Dottie Pepper was a tad bit upset about the U.S. giving up two early matches during the Solheim Cup (Women's Ryder Cup) in Sweeden this past weekend. With the team's lead slowly slipping away she described the team as "Chokin' freakin' dogs". It was a comment that wasn't supposed to get on air, but did....
"I chose a bad set of words," she said, adding that a technical hitch had led to her private opinions becoming public. With technical hitches like that, who needs motivational team talks? But the triumphant US captain, Betsy King, denied that Pepper's intervention had spurred her players on. "You usually retire when you can't play any more. That is why you become a television commentator," she said of Pepper. Her players, lined up behind her, roared their approval at their captain's retort.Buuuuuurn! I think that's the new go to when an ex-player blasts you on national television. And Dottie, can we not blame a "technical hitch" for your comments getting on-air? How about your loud ass mouth and unprofessionalism???

P.S.- I'm pretty sure this is my first LPGA post not commenting on how dreadful Michelle Wie is, so kudos to me!

Sent over to AA via reader BM with the following message: "I know things are pretty somber over at AA with Benoit's death, but here's something that should lighten the mood..."
ONE-EYED GATOR PULLS MAN INTO PONDChubbs could not be reached for comment.
VENICE, Florida (AP) -- A man who lost his ball in a golf course pond nearly lost a limb when a nearly 11-foot alligator latched on to his arm and pulled him in the water, authorities said.
Bruce Burger, 50, was trying to retrieve his ball Monday from a pond on the sixth hole at the Lake Venice Golf Club.
The alligator latched on to Burger's right forearm and pulled him in the pond, said Gary Morse, a spokesman for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. Burger used his left arm to beat the reptile until it freed him.

What do you get when you continuously hide Charles Barkley's golf balls during a round of golf and videotape the event? Well....this...
You just knew it was going to be Hersey Hawkins pulling off this prank didn't you? My money was on Armon Gilliam, so you win!!!

Do Me A Favor Leader.....Never Put Chris Berman On Another Golf Event Again
Monday, June 18, 2007

Just a quick post since I already commented on this over the airwaves at 790 The Ticket this afternoon. But if there's any sport that doesn't need Chris Berman it's golf (really every sport for that matter).
For the first two rounds of the U.S. Open he chuckled and cracked bad jokes that rarely made sense. My favorite review came from Phil Mushnick of the New York Post....
Compare Costas to ESPN's signature guy, Chris Berman, who as tower host of the first two rounds of the Open, couldn't help but show up as Vaudeville Chris, performing his TV clown act as if Open viewers would otherwise have been disappointed.Buuuuuuurn. But seriously....just put Scott Van Pelt on the coverage and you're good.
From the start of coverage Thursday, when ESPN showed tape of Ken Duke pitching in for bird at the first hole, three hours earlier, Berman served notice that it's show time - The Chris Berman Show: "On hole No. 1, Ken Duke was no hazard." Clever, huh? Berman had three hours to come up with that one.
Steve Martin knew that the laughs would fade if he hollered, "Ex-cuuuuuse me!" one more time, but Berman still seeks to win the day performing an act he should've grown from, then out of, then retired years ago.

COSTAS ALL BUSINESS; BERMAN PLAYS THE FOOL (Awful Announcing)
P.S.- Yes, that is Berman in the pink in case you were wondering.

Seems a little sketchy for a recovering alcoholic to be part of an advertising campaign entitled "Get Loaded", but oh well. It's all in fun right? Even the part where he steals a beer from a dude while flying by in a golf cart. Pretty impressive.
You know what I have to say to you straight-edge losers.....Go long or go home!

Somebody Get Harold Stilson His Driver
Sunday, April 08, 2007
Every time I feel the urge to make one of my standard, “I feel old” cracks, I’m probably going to think of Elsie McLean and immediately reconsider.
I don’t know if Elsie FEELS old, but she certainly IS old – 102 years and counting. Despite her age, however, she was still out there on the golf course at Bidwell Park on Thursday, teeing off with her driver on the fourth hole, a 100-yard par 3. Not incredible enough for you, the fact that she was there? Okay, try this one:
She scored a hole-in-one.
Really. Not only is Elsie McLean active enough to golf two or three times a week, not only is she good enough to hit the green with her first shot, she managed to just go ahead and become the oldest person ever to score an ace. If previous record holder Harold Stilson of Boca Raton, Florida is still alive (his goal was to make it to 2004 so he could renew his driver’s licence), he must be pissed: that’s the sort of record you figure will hold up for awhile, not a lousy six years.
Elsie is planning on celebrating with an appearance on The Tonight Show on April 24. The fact that she didn’t really want to do it helps answer this question, but really: April 24? That’s seventeen days away. Do the people who book guests for the show realize that she’s 102 years old? Get her on there Monday, for crying out loud.
