Kobe And Magic Share Their MJ Memories

Tuesday, July 07, 2009

The entire World is watching the Michael Jackson Memorial Service today, and rightfully so. While the songs have been giving me goosebumps all afternoon, the story that has made me laugh the most, is the one Magic Johnson told about MJ and a bucket of Kentucky Fried Chicken. Here are Magic and Kobe sharing their memories of the "King of Pop"....

So you DO, in fact, work for ESPN now?

Sports figures opining about a dead pop star- the epitome of insignificance.

Why is Michael Jackson all over sports websites and television? He has nothing to do with sports. Secondly, why is he being glorified when the guy was a child molester? Just because someone dies doesn't mean their life's problems are washed away. The amount of coverage of this guy's death has made me feel embarrassed to be part of society. Honoring someone with the low character of Michael Jackson is shameful. Plus it's great that bankrupt California has to foot the bill for the ceremonies for Jackson at the Staples Center. What a waste of money for a state in serious debt. New York congressman Peter King was dead on on his criticism of the Jackson spectacle.

You know, except for the fact that he was found innocent as far as child molestation goes. I guess that doesn't matter for some reason. Not to mention the fact that he was the one of our generation. There was Elvis, the Beatles, Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson. If you don't like his music or him as a person fine, but you are in the minority, and his music influences EVERYTHING that you hear today.

Did anyone notice that MTV went back to regular programming after the funeral. While CNN and MSNBC continued with hours of funeral aftermath.

Can MTV just stop calling itself Music Television?

BCSF:

And OJ was also found "innocent."

Is your post really serious?

Jackson was found not guilty in a criminal court in 2005; however, in 1994 he paid $22 million to settle a civil case with another child. Let's just say he had a long history with extremely questionable behavior with little boys.

The dude was a train wreck who could sing and dance. If he wasn't so talented at those things and he was your neighbor then you'd be calling the cops everytime he stepped outside and spoke to your children.

In any event, this is America where you can be as delusional as you wish.

Wow, this site is turning into "awful announcing" itself with posts like this.

Seriously, MJ is being treated as a god of some sort.

Like he healed kids with cancer and fed the worlds hungry.

I mean, he danced and sang, damn good at that, but damn.

Ok, a rapist and someone who "acquired AIDS" because he cheated on his wife constantly honoring a pedophile. Wonderful.

Actually, the people sitting up on the stage certainly had checkered pasts: Jesse Jackson (shakedown artist), Al Sharpton (Tawanna Brawlery), Kobe Bryant (Eagle, Colorado), Wesley Snipes (tax problems), Chris Brown (domestic abuse), and Corey Feldman (heroin problem).

Seriously, AA? I can't say what has been echoed here better: The man was an oddball. He is not Jesus Part Deux.

Society is effing sad.

qmark: In a word, yeah; however, I'm far from perfect. I certainly haven't had any of the problems of the previous mentioned individuals.

However, the real point is that this thing was a freak-show of epic proportions. MJ was a very flawed person who happened to be a very talented performer. There are far too many people who view this as something more than a personal tragedy for Jackson's family, children, and friends and somehow think is a great loss for humanity. The celebrity worship culture is very strange and it makes some believe that these people matter more than anyone else.

But hey, this is America where you can believe whatever silly sh*t you want to believe and I can ridicule and criticize to my heart's content.
