Lou Holtz Might Actually Be Running For Congress
Wednesday, August 05, 2009
Now that Dr. Lou has conquered the Tokyo Bowl, there's not a whole lot left to accomplish. There is one thing left on Lou's plate, and according to the Orlando Sentinel, Holtz might be changing jobs sooner rather than later. Yes Lou Holtz is rumored to be running for congress....
After earning nearly 250 wins on the college gridiron, former Notre Dame Coach Lou Holtz is eyeing another competition -- as a candidate for Congress in Central Florida.I don't know what I would do without Lou in my life. Heck, I may just have to make this a political site, and start watching CSPAN everyday. Good luck, Lou, but I hope there's a way for you to pull off both jobs.
The famed skipper and ESPN analyst met with top Republicans here last week and said he was interested in challenging first-term U.S. Rep. Suzanne Kosmas, D-New Smyrna Beach, according to four GOP officials who did not speak on-the-record because they don't know if Holtz actually will run.
Holtz could not be reached for comment. An associate said he was flying to the West Coast for a meeting. Holtz has been one of ESPN's premier college-football analysts since 2005.

He's running in Florida so he will probably win....
His appearances on Hannity must have motivated him to participate in the political system xD
I wish him the best. As long as he knows what he's doing, of course. Still, he's 72, right? That's a little old for a rookie politician.
President Obama does not approve of Lou's blatant Notre Dame homerism. Also, like Matt, I don't want Sylvester the football coach getting spit all over the microphone at congressional hearings.
How much worse could he be than the bozos we have in Congress now?
"You know, Hitler was a great leader."
Case closed.
He's actually younger than most of the citizens in Florida, so he has that working for him.
Why waste his time on a congressional seat when the presidential race is starting next Fall? Holtz-Palin 2012!
Lou Holtz is a tyrannical monter-the proverbial 'Ships Captain' or slavemaster-and has ruined lives and pro careers around America. Lou Holtz lost his mind, and attacked his starting QB, Tony Rice, 2X's in practice, 1nce tackling him to the ground in a fit of manic rage, Tony the 2nd time bending over, Lou hanging like a baby Koala Bear as he's vehemently cursing like a madman. And if Lou fired me, Dan Quinn, for catching a tailback diving for a TD on 4th and inches from outside linebacker from the 2nd to the 4th team, was he in fact betting on the point spread? I thought the objective was to win, and save points instead of giving em away.
Puh-lease! I accept anything to get him off ESPN, even if he has to sabotage our political system. I can't stand him homerism. He picked South Car. to beat Fla. last year and for Notre Dame to go to a BCS bowl. And don't get me started on that lisp. I'll take Mark May over Holtz any day of the week.
