The Song Girls Will Be Getting Their Own Reality Show (Sort Of)

Wednesday, February 18, 2009

No, it's not exactly what you think. There will be know cheerleading, or will it be involved in Sports in any way. No, three USC Song Girls will be on the new E! reality show, "Hot Girls in Scary Places". I wish I was kidding about that title. Via The Hollywood Reporter....

E! has ordered a reality project that puts an all-girl spin on the paranormal investigation genre.

The show is titled "Hot Girls in Scary Places" and stars three University of Southern California cheer squad friends challenged to spend the night in a supposedly haunted abandoned hospital and compete for a $10,000 cash prize.

"They're totally scared and totally believe experiences they're going through," executive producer Gary Auerbach said.

"Hot Girls" will premiere as a special/backdoor pilot and is tentatively scheduled to air Friday, March 13. The project is from Go Go Luckey (A&E's "Paranormal State" and Animal Planet's "Jockeys").
Unbelievable. I mean, I can't believe that they think that Americans are such dumb animals, that they would watch this nonsense! (Pssst...E! What time does it start?)

Don't Tase John David Booty's Bro!

Thursday, February 14, 2008

I don't know how many of you are like me and have never heard of FOX broadcaster Josh Booty, but apparently the dude get arrested for a DUI early yesterday morning. Not only that but the guy got tased and is the brother of USC QB John David Booty...

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ Booty was taken to the Orange County Jail, where he was booked -- and that's when he went ballistic.

O.C. Sheriff's spokesperson Jim Amormino tell TMZ, "Booty was belligerent and uncooperative." Amormino says his deputies used a taser -- "less than lethal force" -- to contain him.

After being tased, Josh fell to the ground, hitting his head on the floor and cracking it open. He was taken to a hospital where he was stitched up.
Call me a bad Sports fan but up until now I've honestly never heard of Josh in the broadcasting world. Hopefully I can hear him on FOX though for years to come though....we needed someone to replace Bill Maas.

Wait Guys! There's Something Wrong With The Banner........Oh No......

Monday, October 29, 2007

I'm not lying when I say I've watched this video about fourteen times already. I was slow in getting it up because I was laughing so hard. Watch as this cheerleader from a highschool in the state of Washington tries to fix her precious little sign right before the team is supposed to run through.

Nice "Dances With Wolves" reference in there by the Sportscaster, but did you have to repeat it 20 times in a row like that at the end? That's just wrong.

The Miami Heat Is Searching Senior Communities For Cheerleaders

Thursday, September 13, 2007

This is random beyond anything I've ever come, but hilarious none the less. The Miami Heat are in need of dancers for the upcoming season, but there's a catch. You have to be at least 63 years old.

MIAMI -- The Miami Heat is looking for dancers. The catch? You have to be between 63 and 81.

The 12 people selected will become part of the 2007-2008 Golden Oldies hip-hop dance team. Auditions are Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Focal Point Senior Center in Pembroke Pines.
Okay, where to I start? If you can "cheerlead" at 81 you're awesome, but I think it's safe to say that I don't want to see the Golden Girls dance to hip-hop.

I Wonder If Matt Leinart Owns This Place

(posted by OMDQ)

This was nearly used as the picture for the weekend preview. Upon further review, however, I decided that it most definitely warranted its own post.

I don't know why it's funny. It just is.

(In a related note, I was disappointed to realize that Awful Announcing did not have a tag for "Juvenile Humor". As you can see, this grave injustice has been remedied.)

God I Could Watch These All Day: Cheerleader Falls

Wednesday, June 27, 2007

The site YesButNoButYes (via WL) has compiled the best YouTubes of Cheerleaders falling, flipping, and smashing into one another. I know Cheerleading is a tough Sport, but for some reason when people fall I laugh....uncontrolably....

Here are my two favorite clips.....

The Patron Saint(s) Of AA's Official 2007 Team Photo

Monday, June 11, 2007

Look, I know that probably 75% of you AA readers only came here after the USC Song Girl Incident last January. And while I would love to believe that it was my writing that garnered me the attention that I have received....I am resigned to the fact that it was The "T", but mainly the "A", that lead you to my tiny little world.

So that's why I am naming the USC Song Girls as the Patron Saint of Awful Announcing (I know...it's a monumentus occasion).

The Summer is almost upon us and Spring Practice is in full swing. As college students around the country have packed up and headed back home....there is one group that is hard at work preparing to Cheer for the wrong team, Bare their assets....Cheer the Trojans to victory!!!!!!! I present to you your 2007 USC Song Girls (click for larger)....

Your players for the upcoming year are: Jenny, Christina, Lauren, Diana, Stephanie, Christine, Allison, Ruth, Tianna, Sarah, and Jennifer.

I hate to say this, but I'm pretty underwhelmed with this year's squad. And Christine by you standing in the middle in front of everyone else...."I take you to be the captain, which means you'll need more work than anyone." While our friend Megan has apparently graduated, and the original video is no longer available on YouTube.....the image is forever burned into our memories.

Do your worst squad of 2007! We'll be watching....

P.S.- There was no vote, but FYI.....Erin Andrews was an also Ran....as well as Bill Simmons. But did you really think I'd have a dude us the Patron Saint of anything? (Ahem! OMDQ)

P.P.S.- Those USC Asics are badass....I'll give you more press if you send me a pair girls!

Give Me My T&A......NOW! (Or You Die!)

Wednesday, April 25, 2007

This is perhaps the oddest and most entertaining story I've come across in quite some time. I have a history of "uncovering" this sort of thing, so it doesn't surprise me that I was drawn to this piece. An unknown person is sending poison laced letters to schools and sports networks for....get this.....

Not showing enough scantily clad cheerleaders on TV.

I wish I was kidding. The dude/dudette has been sending these things since 2004, and now the FBI is involved.

In excerpts of the letters released Tuesday by the FBI, the unknown author seems to accuse sports broadcasters of focusing cameras on lightly dressed cheerleaders for their own amusement.

"Pigs park their cameras on us close up, front view, dozens of times each game, yet rarely ever show on TV in this manner, unless squads are wearing sweaters, jackets, under shirts, etc," the author said in a 2004 letter.
The way that exerpt is written leads me to believe that this is a pissed off cheerleader who hasn't gotten his/her 15-minutes of fame, but either way the story is awesome. Want another letter? You got it.
"For the last 6 years, Ohio State cheerleaders have received more TV time ... because they wear long sleeved red/white outfits," the author said in a December 2006 letter. "If they wore sleeveless outfits, they would not get ANY TV time. So, we are fed up with this constant exploitation."
I'm so confused yet so giddy about this at the same time. I haven't felt these emotions since I first learned about sex. So let me get this straight.....you think you are being exploited by NOT being on TV? Oh you smart, smart cheerleader person you. You are even confusing yourself now aren't you? Just put the pesticide down, and rest your pretty little head on that pillow there. That's nice isn't it. Now rest my love. Just rest.

Sugar Bowl Live Blog, Pre-Game

Wednesday, January 03, 2007

First, I would like to apologize for bumping USC Song Girl AssGate from the top of the page, and thank Awful Announcing for giving me an opportunity to crack fat jokes for the next six hours. As mentioned below, I have a little site called Run Up The Score. It's mainly a college football blog, but often deviates into such topics as mentally challenged headbangers, Jenn Sterger's implants, music, and Pittsburgh sports fans that just need to put their clothes on and shut up.

It's going to be a long night, so let's just cut to the pre-game formalities.

Tonight's Allstate Sugar Bowl returns to it's proper home of the Louisiana Superdome and is essentially a home game for the Louisiana State Tigers. The location also provides a convenient post-game excuse for Notre Dame, who could set a new NCAA record for most consecutive bowl losses (9).

Just for fun, let's look back at Notre Dame's previous eight bowl losses.

Fiesta Bowl
January, 1995
Loss - Notre Dame 24, Colorado 41
Orange Bowl
January, 1996
Loss - Notre Dame 26, Florida State 31
Independence Bowl
December, 1997
Loss - Notre Dame 9, LSU 27
Gator Bowl
January, 1999
Loss - Notre Dame 28, Georgia Tech 35
Fiesta Bowl
January, 2000
Loss - Notre Dame 9, Oregon State 41
Gator Bowl
January 1, 2003
Loss - Notre Dame 6, NC State 28
Insight Bowl
December 28, 2004
Loss - Notre Dame 21, Oregon State 38
Fiesta Bowl
January 2, 2005
Loss - Notre Dame - 20, Ohio State 34

So, Notre Dame hasn't only lost their last eight bowl games, they were beaten by at least 14 points in six of those eight losses.

Fox is carrying the Sugar Bowl, and has assigned the team of Kenny Albert, Terry Bradshaw, Howie Long and Jeanne Zelasko to bring us the action. This could get fun. And by "fun", I mean "disasterous." ESPN Radio has the infinitely better team of Brad Nessler, Bob Griese, Paul Maguire and Erin Andrews. Erin Andrews on the radio? That's a bigger tease than the USC Song Girl actually sporting underwear.

Anyway, each school will receive between $14 million and $17 million from the Bowl Championship Series for their efforts. Naturally, LSU will be treated as the home team, which doesn't prevent Notre Dame from wearing those unlucky green jerseys since LSU usually wears white at home. The Irish have a 5-4 record all-time against LSU. The official Sugar Bowl site breathlessly notes that "Notre Dame (10-2), winners of eight of its last nine games, became BCS bowl eligible by tallying nine or more wins in their season." So did 22 other teams, but who's counting?

Charlie Weis realizes the importance of character men.

The general Vegas consensus is LSU (-8.5). As a gambler, I don't trust JaMarcus Russell to blow out any decent team, and the potential for Brady Quinn to put up garbage points is too great for me to resist taking Notre Dame and the points. As a college football fan and decent member of society, I hope LSU wins by 30. Also, I'll be visiting New Orleans for the first time in a few weeks and grew up as a Notre Dame-hating Penn State fan in northeastern Pennsylvania, where everybody is either a PSU or Notre Dame fan. So yeah, you could say I have a rooting interest in this one.

What To Watch For:
  • Can Notre Dame's offensive line protect Brady Quinn, and will LSU defensive coordinator Bo Pelini be able to generate pressure with only his front four? If Notre Dame can keep Quinn upright or force LSU to blitz linebackers and safeties, WR's Rhema McKnight and Jeff Samardzija could break loose. So could Irish TE John Carlson, who torched Penn State earlier this season.
  • Which JaMarcus Russell will show up? This should be easy pickings for Russell, who is the streakiest high-profile quarterback in college football this year. He can be unstoppable at times, but can also crap the bed with the best of 'em.
  • Big plays on special teams. Neither team's kicking game is particularly good, which means something freaky is bound to happen. A missed extra point or chip shot field goal, a busted punt coverage, or a blocked kick could go a long way in helping Notre Dame notch the upset.
  • Will LSU's fans actually make it into Superdome, or will they be carted off to the nearest emergency room?

Prediction: LSU 34, Notre Dame 30. I'm torn between wanting a close, entertaining game, or a complete blowout, which would force Marv Albert to break into "announcer time wasting mode" with Terry and Howie.

Ladies and gentlemen, start your Fatty McButterpants jokes!

USC Song Girl Identified!

After some careful research on my own part. I believe I have uncovered the identity of the Song Girl in question for cause "Ass Gate 2007" (Trademarked by AA)

Her name? Megan.
Her major? Business. (of course)
Her hometown? Vancouver, Washington
Her career goals? "I plan to pursue a career in Marketing or Advertising. I'll probably come back to the Marshall School of Business to get my MBA." (Very admirable)
Her Hobbies? "My hobbies include dancing, the beach, all USC sporting events, and shopping. I love being outdoors, the ocean, and having fun! Traveling to new places and meeting new people are two of my favorite things." (Umm Megan....baby....I know a TON of people that want to meet you)
She's happiest when? "I'm happiest when I'm surrounded by the family and friends I care about most, and who know how to make me laugh. It helps if the ocean and good food are close by, too!"
She is most proud of? "I am most proud of: The values that my parents instilled in me as a child. I know that wherever my crazy life takes me, I will always have a sound moral foundation and parents who love and support me." (Wow....I'm not even going anywhere near this one. Crazy life huh? You have no idea.)
One word to describe herself? "Fun!" (Hell yeah!)
Favorite aspect of Song Leading? "The excitement! I love the rush of performing for 80,000 people and supporting a winning team." (The rush. So that's what the kids are calling it these days)
Favorite memory on the squad? Any of the times spent with my wonderful Song Girls, whether we're huddled around an electric heater while freezing on the beach while filming The O.C., laying out on the beaches of Catalina Island, or banding together to face a feisty Pauley Pavilion full of Bruins. When we're together, it promises to be a memorable good time. (Add showing my ass to millions during the Grandaddy of them All!).

Are you ready to see her? Good. Meet Megan....star of Ass Gate 2007.

This is in no way an exact science. I based my findings mainly on the picture "starred" above and this one below.....but it appears that the profile is an exact Match!

Legs....same, nose.....same, height.....same, um...upper region.....same. We have found a name for our ass and they name is MEGAN! I'm dubbing this experiment a success!

For closer/better pictures click the links below.

The Entire USC Song Girl Squad....Megan bottom left. (USC Song Girls)

Update: Even though there is a debate going on over at Deadspin. I'm 99% sure it's Megan. I'm sticking with the original analysis. Megan is much taller and has a thinner face than Alli. Here are a couple more gratitous shots of the girls....

(Megan third from left)

(Meg-O....Top Row, Second from Left)

Update #1,023- Scott Ol
in Schmidt (Boi from Troy) has now entered the fray, and thinks it's neither Megan....nor Alli, but Allison!?!?!?! Man this is getting tough, but I submit my final evidence and you can be the judge......Megan, Alli, and Allison together!!!!!!!

I'm sticking with the nose being the deciding factor and my final vote goes to Megan. Now somebody get an interview with this lass already!

Brent Musburger Calls Out Blogs and USC Girls Go Commando

Tuesday, January 02, 2007

Mentioned this briefly yesterday, but with time winding down in Michigan's loss to USC Brent Musburger asked a question to bloggers....(I'm paraphrasing here)

"Well guys it looks like the blogs in Michigan will be in full force asking for the dismissal of Lloyd Carr. The fact that you go 10-1 in the regular season....it blows my mind that you would fire that coach."- Musburger

"I wouldn't be worried about the blogs....I'd be worried about losing the last two games of the season"- Bob Davies
Bob Davies is the voice of reason? Funny thing was that I laughed when I heard it at first, but on second thought it came off kind of condescending. Oh well, it's still funny that Brent Musburger reads blogs.

And Brent....since you asked. I hate Lloyd Carr as a coach. Normally the coach makes the players look good. See Notre Dame, Ohio State, USC, and now even Boise State. But with Lloyd it's the other way. The players make him look good. I mean seriously....Michigan has 4 offensive plays. They are the most predictable team ever. I think until a change happens the Wolverines will keep losing on New Years Day. Carr is the Schottenheimer of the college ranks.

And with that I give you USC Cheerleaders! (Sort of SFW)

Update: Just to be completely accurate the SC Song Girl did not go commando. DAMN YOU HD TELEVISION!!! She just had a giant wedgie. I can't speak for you, but I'm just going to pretend it was what we originally thought, and keep hounding the internet for a front view. No, I am not in denial.

You can see just the faintest bit of white confirming the "Non-Commando" Picture borrowed from The M Zone. She's a damn tease. For the real Commando....see below.
