ESPN And Dominos Are Doing Something
Wednesday, January 30, 2008
Maybe it's the fever I'm running, but I can't for the life of me understand what any of this is about. ESPN is working with Dominos to air 90 seconds advertorials that they're calling "Sports Related Mini Films". What in the hell does that mean?
ESPN said today it would unveil a humorous campaign sponsored by Domino’s Pizza, the latest entry in ESPN Shorts, a series of four, 90-second advertorials designed to resemble sports-related mini-films.Ohhhh I get it now! They make me want to watch the 6pm Sports Center even less now. That makes complete sense.
“Planner presented by Domino’s Pizza,” via Ground Zero, Los Angeles, will break this week during SportsCenter (6 p.m. ET) and air over the next eight weeks. Spend was not given.
ESPN Shorts launched in 2004 with “The Scout presented by Sears,” about a hard-luck baseball scout who needs to find the next big thing, which turns out to be the groundskeeper who uses Craftsman products. They followed that in 2005 with “The Squeeze presented by Miller,” about a Boston family dealing with the death of an uncle who had a heart attack while watching Game 6 of the World Series.

AA, for someone who's sick, you've had a busy day. you've put up FIVE stories. take tomorrow off.
ESPN is vowing to piss everyone off.
As long as the bring The Noid back, I'm down.
@doug the punter:
That is Mike & Mike doing the voiceovers in those Domino's commercials. Since they've probably getting free unlimited topping pizzas since late December, and looking at some of Golic's recent TV appearances, I think he's off the NutraSystem.
Do yourself a favor and click by The Big Lead tonight--there's a dynamite pic of Erin Andrews there right now.
I'm still getting a kick out of how Domino's is trying to convince America that the BFD pizza stands for "Big Fantastic Deal". Right...
I endured the MD-UVA game earlier tonight on the WWL only because I went to MD.
It is so obvious they dont care about showing games anymore just promoting other shows. There was one stat chart for UVA that took up half the screen, while a player was attempting a foul shot. There was a game track in the second half where they continued to show the graphic after play resumed, you could see the players moving underneath. They cut away from live action to show a shot of people cheering ! The ridiculuos SC 30 at 30 that takes 3/4 of the screen, at least that was during a timeout. A rambling Karl Ravech doing a live look in for Kansas-K St that basically was to show the game was close, and a shot of LeBron James doing an interview to plug their NBA game.
And the wonderful team of Len Elmore and Mike Patrick doing the game, spending as much time talking about non-game topics as the game itself.
Worst of all, no EA as sideline reporter.

good call on the picture. she doesnt look too happy in the photo, but maybe its because of the old dudes at the scorers table checking her out.

I'd still rather watch those ESPN bozos than Tim Brando, Mike Gminski & that Jenn chick (who's not Sterger) on the sidelines on FSN ACC Sunday Night Hoops...when it's not pre-empted.
As for EA, she seems to be tied to the Big 10 area during the week (she'll be in Madison for the IU-Wisc game tomorrow) and wherever the Saturday Primetime game is (this week, UCLA).
At least there are heady photogs out there...

...that was actually worse than I could've imagined. ESPN tried the same thing they did with Domino's that they did with the LeBrons & Nike. Absolutely brutal. I could've at least spent those three minutes staring at that new Erin Andrews pic.
There were 7 other pics of EA from the Penn State game a few nights ago besides the one on The Big Lead here:

Good God!
Well this makes sense. I am 99% certain it is Mike Greenberg who does the voice-overs for the new Domino's commercials (the "got 30 minutes" or whatever ones).
