Dwight, Nate....And Lebron?
Saturday, February 14, 2009
Way for Lebron to go ahead and make everything about him. Nate Robinson and Dwight Howard put on a heck of a show for everyone, with Robinson winning, but Lebron's announcement might have been the biggest highlight....
Dwight Howard was much more impressive overall, and I think the markets their respective teams play in came into play, but not a bad show. In fact, outside of everything that Vince Carter, Dominique and MJ have done, I think that Howard dunk from the side was one of the more impressive dunks I've seen.
But Lebron in a dunk contest? Yeahhhh....sorry Nate "Kryptonite" Robinson.

As usual, James is only doing something when it directly benefits him. He'll be a free agent after next season, so why wouldn't he want to be in the dunk contest now instead of a few years earlier.
He's just trying to cash in and better his own cause. Figures.
I'm excited to see him participate, I just wish he wasn't always blindingly focused on his own image and everything else.
Lebron was put on the spot. He used the wrong words too and now he won't be able to back out.
It was a close contest, but we know what happens when fans are left to vote on their own. Nothing good.
Sadly th 12ft backboard dunk looked less impressive than it really was. It was the big dunk of the night. It was a show stopper, when that thing was driven on a forklift out onto the court.
Pau Gasol ruined it.
Lebron's cances of competiing in the dunk contest next year are slim and none. Unless, the NBA gives him a boatload of money Okay. And by the way, the dunk contest has past its relevance.
I can't believe Robinson won again. That's some shit. He did the exact same dunks he won with last time, but this time we had one I could have done where he used a human-stool (which they gave him like a 45 for).
The judges suck. The fans suck. It all sucks. Good dunks sometimes don't get recognized, mediocre dunks get over-emphasized, and everything seems to impress Kenny Smith. At one point Kenny said that Dwight Howard would be the only one to dunk on a 12-ft hoop. Ok, Kenny. As much as it was a LeBron love-fest the first two nights, that man can fly over a lot of people.
Kenny said around the 2:16 mark, "Are you shitting me?"
AA Hates the Cavs because they put the Wiz out of the playoffs 3 straight years. Thus AA hates LeBron, just come out and say it.
twtitleist is right, I dunno how I missed that. He then corrects himself to say "Are you kidding me?"
I sure hope LeBron isn't hoping to dunk in the Dallas Cowboys' stadium...
"The 2010 All-Star weekend is being hyped as a collaboration between teams and cities. Some events will be held at the Dallas Convention Center, with the Mavericks' arena hosting the rookie game on Friday night and the Saturday night festivities, which include the 3-point and dunk contests."
The only thing the "Dallas stadium" (as LeBron called it) is actually hosting is the All-Star game. And it's in Arlington, Texas...not Dallas.

Don't forget AA Hates ESPN. We've all gotten a little more misogynistic & intellectually lazy since he stopped commenting here.
/pours out a little liquor for the rest of the annoying Anons
Dwight was a good sport to help Nate out.
Jameer Nelson should have pass the ball of the side of the backboard for dwight to dunk.
Then in the finals bring out the 12 footer and then it's a wrap for
D12.
Go Magic!
Off-topic from the dunk contest, but after Boston College secured the win over Duke, we got this gem from Tim Brando"
"Let the tea party begin!"
I'm officially pumped for March Madness. This ain't no Carmen San Diego!
Fernandez had the coolest and classiest performance but the announcers dumped on him because they are idiots and didn't pay attention to their producers. Yeah a nearly seven foot guy dunking on a twelve foot net easily is great and all, but since when was the dunk contest about ease? Terrible terrible show.
No chance Lebron competes, frankly I don't think he will even play the Allstar game next year so that nothing free jeopardizes the NYC move.
12 feet. WOW. He did it with such ease too. Next year a 14 foot dunk off with Superman and The King. AMAZING.
KryptoNate?
