Stacey Dales Confirms ESPN Contract Dispute

A few months back, I posted the depressing news that Stacey Dales wasn't returning to ESPN, and the apparent reason was because the "Leader" wouldn't grant her first-class travel request. Well in an interview with the Daily Oklahoman, Dales confirms said rumor and said that she just "had to take a stand"....
In negotiating a new three-year contract in December, Dales said she reached an impasse with the network over a travel provision that she did not specify. However, an ESPN source confirmed an Internet report that Dales was unhappy with flying coach while many of her colleagues were flying first class.Again, it seems like a petty detail on both parties behalf, but like Dales said....I guess you have to take a stand. If I was any other network, I'd jump at the chance to hire Dales. In fact, I wouldn't even waste her talent on the sideline. Find a studio or booth for her already.
"At some point, you have to take a stand at whatever you are doing in life,” Dales said. "That’s not sounding like a feminist. That’s not sounding like a spoiled, rotten kid. That’s making a business decision that affects the quality of your life. That was an important thing for me.”
"ESPN was a great launching pad for something new,” she said. "I had a great experience with them.”

Booth, studio, sideline, anywhere for Dales. She is a class act and very knowledgable, and of course camera friendly. Think ESPN might wish they'd have ponied up for 1st class instead of letting her walk and having to replace her with that hack Jeannine Edwards.
You let your employer dick you around with something "small" like first class or coach flights, then they'll think they can dick you around with something much more important. Good for her.
I think the travel arangement thing was just to cover up her displeasure in working with Paul Maguire. She'll land on her feet soon enough, if not, she's always welcome at my place.
Agreed. The Big 10 Network sure could use her, and I think she'd be great on CBS as well. She beats any other sideline reporter out there since SHE ACTUALLY PLAYED!!!

I'll guarantee with the amount of travel she does, she's got status with multiple airlines.
I'd bet she gets upgraded regardless every time she flies.
If her colleagues can travel first class, why not her? Stupid place for ESPN to draw a line in the sand. Losing someone as talented as she is over something so small is another example of the WWL's idiocy. Good luck to Stacey. She won't be out of work long.

It seems pretty stupid to quit your job over a few more inches of leg room.
