Dana Jacobson (Of All People) Questions Tiger Woods' Use Of Language
Wednesday, March 26, 2008
Tiger Woods appeared on ESPN's First Take today and did an interview with Dana Jacobson on a number of topics. Some of those topics included Doral, The Masters, March Madness, and reporters taking pictures. Jacobson wanted to get his side of the story in regards to the "break their f**king neck" line the LA Times said that he dropped on the crowd, but she didn't stop there....
I understand ESPN wanting to get an answer from Tiger about this but do you think they could have got someone other than Dana "F**k Jesus" Jacobson? When she said, ""What do you say to those who question … the level of anger and your choice of words?", I wanted to break her f**king neck. I can't imagine how Tiger felt. Hello pot...meet kettle.
I'm sure he'll be back on First Take very soon.

Look, I'm not a Tiger fan, by any means, but this goes beyond just him. Why do we, as a society, act surprised when an athlete/musician/actor is "caught" swearing on TV? They're human beings, not androids. And if it's such a big deal to the networks and the FCC, then run everything on a 5 minute delay. That way, even the dumbest board op can press the button in time.
Who cares? I doubt "The Children" actually heard what he said. God forbid anyone on tv burn their ears with bad language that they most likely hear at home from their parents.
On SportsCenter tonight, the did the "Tiger side of the story" part of it and pretty much let it go. After the piece, there was a "Gatorade Tiger" commercial in the next break. I think that speaks volumes.
Yep...saw it. You're dead on Anon.
Give Dana a break. Seriously. She asked a question about profanity. Tiger answered about his golf game. So she re-asked the question. That's what interviewers do. Why would that make you want to break her ** neck? Because she used swear words during an untelevised roast? Also, nobody who was at the roast alleges that she said F Jesus. In fact, it's clear that she didn't say that. But because there was a rumor she once did, she's not allowed to ask Tiger these questions? Seriously...get real!
I agree with the last anon. She would have lambasted if she did not ask about it. Also, she was at a roast which blue language occurs. The only problem was she was not funny. If she was a riot there would be no issue
Fair enough, but I'm from the school of "you apologize if you did it", if you don't you're f'ing guilty. She definitely cursed and whether she said "f jesus" or not is ultimately irrelevant.
AA--if it's irrelevant, why did you mention it in your write-up? It's slanderously inaccurate. A Web site called Awful Announcing should be applauding somebody who asks tough questions and doesn't let someone dodge a question.
Well she had to apologize and got suspended for it so that means she said something offensive regardless what she actually said so how she go ask somebody about their language when she didnt have to address her language that got her in trouble, its not like what she did happen like a year ago its still fresh on people minds.
Speaking of offensive, I found AA's language in this post to be very offensive. I don't think it's appropriate for anyone to say that they wanted to break someone else's neck, especially considering how serious the problem of violence against women is. I'm sure AA will say that he didn't mean it literally and I will believe it. But that doesn't excuse it.
So, will you suspend yourself?
Dana Jacobsen did her job. No problem with it at all.
What Dana got suspended for happened at a private function (I feel she shouldn't have been suspended at all and I'm Catholic). What Tiger did happened in public. She's a reporter, he's a public figure. She did a good job.
Tiger whined and cursed, Dana had a lot of wine and cursed. Big difference.
speaking of language choice...how about dana jacobsen asking tiger about being in the zone? she said something to the effect of the ball lokking like the size of a watermelon...did anyone else catch any odd silence after that comment?
Dana Jacaobson sould not be telling TIger woods not to use bad language. Did she forget that she got suspended for using bad language on that stupid roast for tose no talets Miake and MIke? Wake up Dana!
