"And a lower seed advances to the next round for the first time today" - Dick Enberg on #9 Texas A&M beating #8 BYU. Too bad #11 Kansas State won like 20 minutes ago. (Via SS Reporters
"They'll get some hands on balls."- Len Elmore
If I had to choose between watching Wisconsin play basketball in HD or watching paint dry on HGTV in standard def, it would be a close call. It would probably depend on the color of the paint. (Via Mal)
I agree wholeheartedly.
So much for my hope of Gus getting a game going down to the wire. This doesn't look like the 2006 George Mason team. (Via Captain Redbeard)
"The best way to combat that defense is to put the ball in the basket." Len Elmore (Via Zak)
"Rises... and... f... hits it... hmm"- Gus Johnson
It's been a long boring day for Gussy. (Via Zak)
It's been a long day for everyone. Hopefully tomorrow is better.
Gus Johnson must have company issued Valium from CBS. "Take these this year and you'll never have to worry about James Brown on play-by-play again." (Via Tainted Alligator Souffle)
I feel like they've given me the same thing. After that Duke game I'm drained. All this chalk is boring me to tears. Go Titans.
"That ball pops out like a cork."- Craig Bolerjack
"Akognon is just so...ok, heh heh, I did it."- Dan Bonner (Via Hanrahan)
"Bo Ryan has knees of iron"- Dan Bonner (Via Mal)

Please God, spare me the Arizona/West Virginia game
@ssreporters: Enberg was told there would be no math in sports broadcasting.
If the George Mason pre-game speech is an indicator, the Patriots are going to get drilled. Quite lame.
That's probably going to be a pretty interesting game, Sam. Too bad it's Wenzel and Bolerjack.
I get Wisconsin-CS Fullerton, once that one starts. That ought to last about ten minutes before we get switched back to GMU-ND.
"They'll get their hands on balls and sometimes create loose balls." - Len Elmore
If I had to choose between watching Wisconsin play basketball in HD or watching paint dry on HGTV in standard def, it would be a close call. It would probably depend on the color of the pain.
I knew pain had color!!
color of the paint.
Anyway, I get the ND/George Mason game. That pre-game speech was indeed pretty lame. "MAKE 'EM DISAPPEAR!"
sorry - paint. The color of "pain" is whatever shade Digger's highlighter / tie combo is.
I knew pain had color!!
If you were talking about the multicolored Big 10 halfcourt circle from the Tourney in Indy, you had it right the first time (this from a Michigan fan).
Gus: "The Irish aren't disappearing".
or perhaps the ridiculous multi-colored strips on Marquette jerseys.
So much for my hope of Gus getting a game going down to the wire. This doesn't look like the 2006 George Mason team.
Craig DrinkingJack has gotten the close games today.
Whoever said it earlier was right. I cannot take anymore Wenzel. Good lord he is bad.
After Wisconsin clanks three missed jumpers in a row, Bonner offers this insight: "I don't think that fall away jumper is the shot they want".
"The best way to combat that defense is to put the ball in the basket." - Len Elmore
Also, Gus just stumbled out of a rise and fire.
"Rises... and... f... hits it... hmm"

Did you see those losers in the stands dressed in the red and white suits with the red and white hair? Talk about a couple of dorks that will never touch a boob.
Could somebody tell Huggins that they aren't taking auditions for the role of "Tony" in "The Sopranos Movie" yet.
Anybody want to switch it to Lipstick Jungle with me?
I know it's cliche, but with all the chalk today - tomorrow is going to be nuts.
Pick the top games of the day folks...try and think that this wasn't a boring day....
Ref blows his whistle. Play stops. Wenzel: "I think we have a a situation here where we're going to get a foul". Genius.
after the duke game my body remembered how much beer i'd consumed.
1. Duke v. Belmont
2. Marquette v. UK
3. Bob Wenzel v. Coherent Thought
And now to kick you while you're down....
It's Jim Nantz/Billy Packer time tomorrow morning!
Tell me about WMW...I'm reloaded on the RBVs just to finish out the night.
Wenzel is desperately trying to talk and yell like Bill Raftery.
UCLA by 23 in the other game.
Viva Viagra!
Look out - CSF is back in it.
CSF is within 2 at the half, maybe we can see a big upset finally
Okay, if you were in a room and you had to shoot one of these people, who would it be? And you can't shoot your self.
A. Bob Wenzel
B. Craig Bolerjack
C. Tim McCarver
Well articulated Wenzel.
McCarver. Hands down, but Wenzel is making a push.
i would shoot myself
I would shoot McCarver, but only after Deion Sanders dumps water on his head.
Of course this is off topic because all of these late tip off games (even the close ones) are boring.
What if you had to the opportunity to blow up a house with the following people?
A. Tim McCarver, Bob Wenzel, Brent Musberger
B. Steve Lavin, Joe Buck, Stephen A. Smith
C. Billy Packer, Jay Bilas, Hubie Brown
House A, I actually only dislike Bilas as a color guy, and the oppurtunity to off Musburger and McCarver is too great to pass up
buck, lavin and smith
most of the others wouldn't last tooo long.
To be fair, Wenzel's comment about how Duke should respond with Coach K being sick was not too far off thanks to that scare.
I thought you guys might find this funny. My 10 year old sister comes up to me after watching I Am Legend in the living room.
She looks at the screen and screams a bloodcurdling scream. I freak out, wondering what's the matter.
She points and says "That guy on the TV is so white, it reminded me of the zombies! Is he infected?"
It was Nic Wise of Arizona shooting free throws at the end of the half. She was serious.
That is my highlight of today. How sad is that?
Geez - this is getting violent. What if you had to release a flesh-eating virus on a gathering of people. Which would you choose?
A. The 2008 reunion of the 1972 Dolphins.
B. ESPN's next roast of Mike and Mike.
C. France.
Bilas are you watching the game? I wouldn't call missing 14 wide open shots holding your opponent.
B without a doubt.
If you could "spend the night" with one of these women, who would you choose?
A. Pam Ward
B. Linda Cohn
C. Beth Mowins
i would probably have to choose france, but only because bristol is too close to brooklyn and that might get me, and i have nothing against most of the 72 dolphins, basically just mercury morris. he vacations in france, right?
Ha Zak....I watched that yesterday for the first time. I know how she feels.
SS, you better check yourself before you wreck yourself dawg.
@ss - gotta be Linda Cohn. She's the only female in the group.
Now THAT, Joe D, is funny.
Thank you, thank you, I'll be here all weekend.
And AA, how 'bout them Terps?
Dude...it's the N.I.T. I do not care. I'm glad the season is over.
I think Belmont would have thumped WVU or Zona. This is not high quality basketball.
Mal, did Wisconsin reject your application for enrollment back in the day?
I don't understand your hatred for the Badgers. "Oh my God, a defensive minded team that manages the clock." It's their style of play. If you don't like it, don't watch them. If it's your only option too fucking bad.
Dawg, relax. I'm not hatin, just a friendly jab. Hey, I was a big Juan Dixon fan. I'm a Michigan fan so I don't have any room to make fun of other teams this time of year (except in hockey of course- Frozen Four or Bust).
Last time I checked, I didn't think that the Terps (at least, the only ones that matter) started until Sunday against Coppin State.
(shameless plug)
2:00 on WMUCSports.com!
(end shameless plug)
Wisonsin does what works for them. It is a pretty dull brand of basketball to watch. If you can win do it - good for you. Unless your a Badger fan, though, it isn't very entertaining.
Wilmott = Dumbass
See post about Duke headline above for further evidence
Ha I know Joe....tis cool. You're now apart of the commenting guild at AA my friend. Like it or not.
I seriously can't take anymore Boler and Wenzel. Someone please make a comeback in one of the other games. Please!
Wenzel: "The Butler is cleaning up". He says this TWICE in a row. Butler is a kid's name for Arizon.
Mal, I gotcha. Sometimes as a Badger fan, I get a little sensitive after listening to countless analysts say that they're not "athletic" enough to contend and people continually ragging on their style. I realize it's not the most entertaining brand, but you can't argue with 29-4. However, we've come a long way since Bennett-ball
Oh, no doubt AA, no doubt. AA commenting brotherhood for life dawg.
Respect.
Word.
Oh, but can we kick out Wilmott, he really is a dumbass.
watching basketball at work is awesome, even when the games suck
however, when the games suck and you're home
watching basketball feels like work
"Akognon is just so...ok, heh heh, I did it." - Dan Bonner
I don't know what you did, Dan. And I don't think I want to.
Bonner: "Bo Ryan has knees of iron"
if my friend called me to tell me he won "N.C.A.A. Final Four Tickets" i would stop answering their phone calls anyway
And with the WVU-AZ game getting close, it is even more evident that Gus should be in DC instead of in Denver.
Dan Bonner must be getting tired now too. And I like Wilmott so I'm not going to kick him out. We all have moments where things go over our heads (mine more often than not).
What team(s) looked best on day one?
Does WVU EVER miss????????? I'm gonna lose another Elite 8 team.
You had Arizona in the elite 8? They barely made the tourney!
I'd say K-State, Purdue, and Xavier's 2nd half team Mal.
Apparently not Joe. They blew them out of the water.
Hey, they were finally all healthy, and at the beginning of the year they were a Top 15 team. They are more talented than WVU, they should've won. Joe Alexander blows. The only game I was worried about was WVU, if they could just get by them I thought they could do it because Duke and Xavier blow my nutsack.
I thought Mississippi Valley State and Winthrop looked solid today.
K-State was very good with Beasley on the bench a lot. Pitt had a good showing too.
Hilarious hanrahan... hilarious
I think that sums up the day Hanrahan. What the hell....
Kent State: 10 point half
Cornell: 17
Winthrop: 11 point 2nd half
Mason: 21
Miss Valley State: with a 13/16 combo
I don't think I've ever seen scores so low.
Poor Gus Johnson sounded like a man awaiting the death penalty at the end of the ND-GM game.
If Saturday is as bad as today, his head might explode from the lack of release.
I SEE I'VE MISSED A LOT THE LAST THREAD. BACK TO THE NEWCASTLE!!!!!
