FOX Releases MLB Playoff Information
Friday, September 28, 2007
I know I don't have to tell you this, but Joe Buck and Tim McCarver are back to ruin yet another American League Postseason. It will be good fun tearing them apart, but dreadful listening to them at the same time. FOX is also keeping their regular on-field reporters Ken Rosenthal and Chris Meyers, but they're adding a crazy number of people to the pre/post game shows. Here's the list.....
Jeanne Zelasko, Kevin Kennedy, Joe Girardi, Mark Grace and Eric Karros.
It doesn't list them as backup announcing teams, which have yet to been named, but as anaylsts for the pregame. They'll most certainly add Eric Byrnes if the D-Backs don't make the playoffs, so they'd be reaching SNIFNIA territory with that crew.(Psst....Fox.....you are also working with MLB.com for some online content, which gives you access to Harold Reynolds. No one watches that online crap at all. You're more than likely going to employ Thom Brennamen again, so why don't you pair him with HR and Girardi? Seems like a great idea right? Right.)
Completely disregard that. I forgot FOX is only going to need one team because they are only doing the ALCS and WS. TBS takes over the role FOX had last year with multiple announcing teams in the first round of the playoffs.

Is that nice little orange wristband Joe made to raise money for effete, whiny douches?
Jeezis.
I really hate Tim McCarver. Joe Buck should let his father Rest In Peace as the Buck baseball announcer.
Will Fox still bother to air the ALCS if it's Cleveland/Angels?
the people on the pre-game have done thep re-game all year. The former players have rotated in an out each weekwith Zelasko and Kennedy.
Why they feel the need to have all five of them IDK
the concept of watching the divisional round on TBS in standard definition is *killing* me. just killing me.
It's as cliched as ripping on ESPN, but I gotta say it. I can't stand Buck and McCarver. How can the network heads think this is a premiere duo?
McCarver comes off as senile and Buck editorializes as if he's hosting a radio show. Perhaps worse is his ignorant calls for historic moments, such as talking about Kerry Wood's wife after the 2003 NLDS instead of it being the Cubs' first playoff series win in 95 years.
A Brenneman/Reynolds/Girardi trio would own all, however.
No Thom Brenneman, please. At least until he figures out how to proplerly pronounce the word "Third." It's nut "Tud," Thom.
TBS is now in HD on DirecTV channel 245. It just started up this week in fact.
AA, I'm guessing this Fox ALCS schedule will change considering they have a day off on Wednesday for what should be game 5...unless they're predicting a rain/snow out somewhere.
And, with the move to games 3-5 of the W.S. on the weekend/Monday, don't be surprised if the ratings are low again this year and they have either game 3 or 4 in the afternoon after a 1PM EST football game in 2008. It's too bad MLB & Fox reacts instead of acts on low ratings/interest. That just means McCarver doesn't get a bonus.
Will Fox still bother to air the ALCS if it's Cleveland/Angels....IDIOT, nice comment...well thought buddy
Wow, someone doesn't understand the finer points of sarcasm.
TBS has been in hi-def all year on time warner, on its own channel of course. But the presentation CBS has is awful, it's like watching something from the 1970's, imo.
But, in regards to the written piece, Almost every game i watched was on MLB TV at mlb.com... no one else uses this? The only games i watched on tv were the nationally broadcast ones that were blacked out, maybe im in the minority here, but i like the announcing crews that stick with teams all year better than the "big dogs" at least they know the teams and can offer some relevant information from seeing them everyday instead of just reading facts off a sheet likely written up by someone else prior to the game.
FOX is only doing one series at a time, the ALCS and then the World Series. So they don't need a back-up broadcast team.
