NBC Has A Prize For Notre Dame When They're Losing To Duke At The Half This Saturday
Friday, November 16, 2007
So what if your season is done! Who cares if Charlie Weis can't recruit and has ruined your once proud Football program! What does it matter if you lose to two Service Academies in the same year! (Sorry, I'll stop rubbing it in) All of that is of no concern because NBC is going to make you a star!
NBC Sports worked with the Film Department at Notre Dame to create a contest for students to create a commercial for this weekend's game. Students submitted scripts at the beginning of the year and three were put into production the winner has been selected and here it is for you to enjoy!
About 2 million people or so will get to see the creation at halftime, and lucky for you NBC still cares....
"From a business standpoint, it is a difficult year for us financially, because nobody truly anticipated this performance," NBC Sports president Ken Schanzer said yesterday from South Bend.Death Valley.
"We've made very clear we have every intention of trying to stay in this relationship as long as the eye can see," said Schanzer, who has two children who are Notre Dame students. "You chalk it up to the fact over a long period of time there are going to be peaks and valleys, and this is a valley."

On Saturday...
We...
Are...
Losing.
Brought to you by SANDWICH! (Students Against Notre Dame's Weis In Control... HELP!)
so lets see, the sports prez of NBC, Schanzer, has two kids who go to ND...so he spends a crapload of money (not his, mind you, the shareholders) to renew the contract with ND, gets about $200,000 worth of tuition out of it for his family...ya, doesn't sound like a conflict of interest or anything, i'm sure the ND-NBC contract was negotiated at arms length.
NBC: We don't mind showing bad Notre Dame games because we are privileged to show such a great product.
Me: You mean a boring team that loses when they face a quality opponent. And because they are not in a conference, their season is basically over before September even ends.
NBC: Nobody expect them to be this bad.
Me: If by nobody you mean anybody who follows football.
Voice-Over: Notre Dame, stealing from a nation television provider for over a decade.
Fantastic, they show scoreboard of them losing to BC. Hilarious!
Yep Anons....that about sums it up.
Does this mean the "We are..." meme is officially overdone? It was inspirational for Marshall and Virginia Tech but now it has gotten out of hand.
It should be noted that Lou Holtz gave his pep talk to Notre Dame Thursday. Kind of sad when they need a pep talk from Lou Holtz for a game against Duke.
So they have a shitty football team and a shitty film department. Win one for the Gipper indeed.
-- "your season," not "you're season"
-- "academies" not "Acadamies"
And despite the terrible product on the field, recruiting is humming along just fine.
Thanks Editor GB, and I'm glad to hear it. All of Ty Willingham's recruits are gone and Weis didn't do so well his first go around. Good luck.
Nice fact checking...Willingham's recruits are juniors, seniors, and 5th years and outside of Trevor Laws and Mo Crum are making no impact.
Also, you are correct that Weis can't recruit...8th, 8th, and 1st overall for next year's incoming freshman class.
As far as player development, he has not shown he can do that yet.
Anyways, nice fact checking Mortensen.
Umm....Ty Willingham left in 2004 buddy. That means Charlie has had 4 years of recruiting (Summer of 04-Summer 07) under his (huge) belt. There are two seniors on the starting offense....two, and 6 on defense.
8 out of 22 are seniors and probably only a few of the 5th year seniors (Zbikowski) are Ty's recruits.
Nice fact checking friend.
Willingham was fired in December of 2004.
Charlie began recruiting after the Patriots' Super Bowl run - in February of 2005.
Here's mine:
Weis: We suck.
God: Yep.
Notre Dame, we suck.
