The Twenty Or So Things On Dickie V's Mind That Have Nothing To Do With College Basketball Or The Game He's Calling (UNC-OSU)
Wednesday, November 28, 2007
I'll be keeping track of those of the all inner workings of Dick Vitale's mind, and even if you don't watch the game you can enjoy some of what Dickie V is thinking about other than College Basketball. Feel free to play along on your own and add any that I may have missed in the comments.
Tonight's Installment: UNC-OSU, ESPN
1. Jazz Music (After talking about UNC's Wayne Ellington)
2. The city of Toledo
3. Missouri Football
4. Chase Daniel
5. Wants to work with John Saunders on College Football
6. Not knowing Math and Trigonometry (After calling Ginyard and Green G-Cubed)
7. The Commandments
8. Travis Ford
9. Outback Steakhouse
10. Rick Pitino
11. “The Bunny Rabbit!” (referring to the Engergizer Bunny)
12. The New York Yankees
13. Mikey Mantle (actually from Dan Shulman)
14. Florida Gators Football
15. Ronde Barber (Actually from the other night but I'm counting it here)
Other TOSTODVMTHNTDWCBOTGHC's:
Connecticut-Memphis
15 Comments:
that was where one of OSU's threes was shot from, using Berman's home run derby shtick for 3-pointers
Tressel/OSU football needs to be on this list as well. DV said he didnt think it was fair to move up without playing, then went on to pick them to win it all...WTF?
Wow, you mean that ESPN employees are casually working the Yankees into completely irrelevant broadcasts? This comes as a complete shock to me!
20 or so.... means 15? Slacker!
lol... great work AA.
Well the first installment was 20, so I figured it would vary depending on how close the game was on any given night.
I was trying for 20, but alas I think his voice cut out after yelling "Jimmy V!" for the 15,000th time.
As someone who grew up near Toledo, it's best just not to think about that awful city.
He went on for a while about Jack Nicklaus and playing tennis with him on his grass courts.
Vitale is like a car horn that gets stuck. Too bad his wires can't get yanked...
Actually, it's only 13. Travis Ford and Rick Pitino DO have something to do with college basketball.
Okay I'll give you Rick Pitino...I had planned on erasing that one...but what the hell does TJ Ford have to do with College Basketball this year?
Vitale finds a way to work in Pitino in just about every broadcast, usually about them eating together at an Italian restaurant.
My own random thought: I saw the EA Sports Family Play Madden '08 commercial during SportsCenter late last night.
Does anyone know what Washington Redskins safety the old lady is replacing?
Please let it be LaRon Landry....
Whoa! You forgot The General, bay-bee! That's right... Robert. Montgomery. Knight.
I'm told Radio Shack has a product that syncs up tv with radio. If true, it'll free me from having to endure Dickie V any longer! Be still, my heart!!!
Speaking of Pitino, I caught a few of the NCAA tourney games in which he was the color announcer during the season when he left the Celtics, just before he went to Louisville. He was the best color announcer I ever heard; he really covered the game thru the eyes of a coach, pointing out all kinds of great insight, rather than just being a college hoops cheerleader (Dickie V).
I had planned on erasing that one...but what the hell does TJ Ford have to do with College Basketball this year?
That's Travis Ford, former Kentucky player and current coach at UMass.
The city of Toledo? Why?
