Lou Holtz Goes Off On Colt McCoy During Late Night Segment
Monday, October 13, 2008
I was going to make the title "Lou Holtz Temporarily Loses His Mind", but I'm pretty sure it's officially gone at this point. Holtz was doing the late night College Football show with Rece Davis and Mark May late Saturday night/early Sunday, when they decided to have a little debate. Holtz had Tim Tebow, May had Texas QB Colt McCoy and Davis was moderator. Watch as Lou, who thinks they've gone to commercial, flips out after Davis gave the win to May following the debate. Via CFT...
That was just amazingly awkward and somehow still hilarious! The guy never ceases to amaze me. I think I'm going to coin a new term in this spot and that is the "Trainwreckability Scale" (which has no affiliation with Simmons' "Unintentional Comedy Scale"). Right now Lou Holtz's trainwreckabiltiy is sitting at an easy 95 out of 100. After his pep talk this week, he could shoot past 100.
Oh and the other thing is.....he was right. Colt McCoy was not a great QB last year and there were no stipulations about the debate being just for this year or just for one game.

The ESPN Late Night Talk Show Rumors Are Apparently True
Wednesday, August 27, 2008
There's been a rumor floating around the Sports World for awhile now that ESPN was/is planning a late night talk show to air weekdays on ESPN2. Well according to multiple media outlets, including the NY Post, the rumor is soon to become a reality.
The show, according to officials, would be more of a cross between talk radio and "SportsCenter" than "The Tonight Show."This is beyond a terrible idea, but there seems to be no stopping the "Leader" now. The sure-to-trainwreck show is plowing forward and if you thought First Take's ratings were bad....wait until ESPN "Late Night" gets going. The host names that have been floating around included Erik Kuselias, Dan LeBatard, Jason Whitlock and yes....Colin Cowherd. The good news is that TBL's "sources" say that three of the four have declined. The bad news....the one that hasn't is Kuselias. It very well could be the reason you've been seeing him everywhere on the network as of late.
"It would be tomorrow's sports talk - tonight," a spokesman said, declining to provide further information citing the network's policy of not discussing shows in development.
ESPN sources note that the show is still in its earliest stages - although executives did tease the show to potential advertisers last May during the network's "Upfront" presentation.
The understanding is that the new show would include three recognizable ESPN personalities offering their opinions on the day's sports news.
ESPN 2's late night slate is currently something of a TV wasteland, with shows ranging from coverage of streetball to a NASCAR wrap-up show.
I have a different thought though. Who's the one person at ESPN who actually has a good bit of experience working on a talk show? That's right folks....Bill Simmons. I'm not saying it's going to happen, but don't be surprised.

AA Announcement: Live Chat With Sports Center's Josh Elliot (Monday, 1:15pm)
Friday, August 08, 2008
With the new Sports Center Live format kicking off Monday, I decided to actually do some "real journalism" and actually speak with some of the parties involved. After much brainstorming we (yes ESPN and actually came up with this together) decided on having a live-chat with Josh Elliott following his first shift working as an anchor on the live show. So you'll not only get the live-blog during the day, you'll also get the chance to talk to someone who's just come off the set (well not just...but you know what I mean).
While the fact that this is actually happening is still a little bit surreal, it's going to be a fun time. Josh will be here at 1:15pm on Monday, August 11th and he promises that (most) everything is fair game. We'll try and touch on everything surrounding the launch of the live Sports Centers, but feel free to ask him why "Classic Now" got canceled or even what his favorite cartoon was growing up. I'll try and mix it up as much as possible. This is obviously going to be a huge success or one giant trainwreck, but either way it will be fun!
So your homework assignment over the weekend to think of the one thing you always wanted to know about a Sports Center anchor and be prepared to ask it on Monday. I'll be around all weekend posting on Olympic happenings and such, so if you think of something beforehand be sure to email it to me at AwfulAnnouncing@Gmail.com.

NBA All-Star Celebrity Game Open Thread
Friday, February 15, 2008
When I said it was the best event of the weekend I wasn't lying and that's why I'm going to be keeping track of this trainwreck. Stuart Scott is wearing a mask and they actually have a chef courtside cooking for the announcers and players. I'm not kidding.
Mark Jones and Jon Barry on the call so this one should be fun. Oh and Stuart Scott just said Chris Paul plays for the New Orleans Jazz. Trainwreck time!

Soul Patrol! Is in the house sporting the salt and pepper look and everyone seems to think Deion Sanders is going home with the MVP. I'm going out on a limb and picking Terry Crews. Okay seriously the just had a fortune teller read tarot cards for Amare Stoudamire. That was just creepy.
Do those unis have an Argyle pattern? That's just wrong. Oh and just because you'd want me to.....
Yeah that's a bit of a height difference. Okay here we go! Shaq is in the house and I'm praying that him and Bill Walton go at each other at some point tonight.
So it's a good thing they have Walton mic'd up so we can here him say "shoot it" over and over again. Ha and Stuart Scott just didn't realize they were back on air. Now he's getting some shrimp dish made for him. Great stuff....you can't write this.
Damn....they stuck with Jamison eating the shrimp dish too long and we missed the end of the 1st Quarter. Balls. I think New Orleans is winning. Hahahahaha......ESPN just aired a commercial about College Basketball linking in the move "Vantage Point"....so bad. Whoa and Deion with a hell of a drive right there.
"What do I got to do to get a call? Do I have to buy you some fries or something?"- Stephen A. Smith
Why in the hell are they calling fouls in this game? Seriously...this does not need to be longer than it has to.
Oh no.....Terrell Owens is in the house.
Gabrielle Union is on Stephen A's bench.... lets just end this now, put her and Erin Andrews in a vat of craw fish, and see who comes out with the least amount of clothes on. (Via Marc)
Good to see that Chris Tucker is still getting work....
"Aww Dammit."- Stephen A. Smith on mic
I'm glad he didn't throw the name God in front of that dammit. Ric Bucher is apparently the commissioner of this game and someone just got traded for Deion. I'm so confused. Someone is beating someone at halftime and T.O. is killing it.
Does Melo not understand the concept of drums? (Via Anon)
Apparently not that was a dreadful performance. I'm pretty bored with this game and I'm ready to give up. I'm just waiting for T.O. to blow his knee out. Oh snap....my MVP Terry Crews just broke it down midcourt. Nice.
Damn T.O. just threw one down!!!
