Bill Parcells One And Done, Leaving Analyst Role
Wednesday, December 19, 2007
Well that was quick wasn't it? Bill Parcells appears to be ready to leave ESPN and head back to Football. The ex-Cowboys coach and ESPN Analyst has been offered the Vice President position with the Atlanta Falcons and it looks like he's going to accept the role.
"I think I probably will do it," Parcells told the Daily News by telephone. "The job description is to be the football operations overseer. We still have a little work to do, but I don't think it's anything major. I don't expect any real deal-breaker. I don't think there will be any major hangups."Well I guess all you can say is good luck because that's a tough spot to be in. I commend Parcells for taking such a challenging job and will miss him being the only person making sense on the Countdowns.
Parcells told the newspaper that he will oversee the football operation but he has no plans to return to coaching.
"I'm going to oversee the football operation," Parcells told the Daily News. "I'm going to hire a general manager if the deal is finalized in Atlanta. We are going to hire a coach and talk to all the coaches who are there. It's going to be a collective effort. The triangle is going to be the GM, the coach and Bill Parcells. I'm also going to include Rich McKay if he wants to stay in the business.

Do NOT make any fried chicken references, Bill. Also, draft a mormon QB who won't get incarcerated.
What is ESPN going to do? They'll only have 15 ex-Cowboys working for them now.
Maybe Larry Allen will retire.
Does anybody have Dat Nguyen's number?
The ghost of Tom Landry is free.
It will be very interesting in Atlanta, considering Parcells doesn't believe in bigfoot.
This is bullshit, does Parcells think he can just waltz onto ESPN's set, stay for a year, and waltz out? This vagabond will do anything for a buck, always looking for the next best gig. You really can't trust him any farther than you can throw him.
Bill's motto is "never say never". He taught Bobby Petrino and Nick Saban all they know.
How many of you know that Nick Saban and Bill Parcells have the same agent? Jimmy Sexton is to coaches what Scott Boras is to baseball players. Prick.
Who DOESN'T know that J.J.? Prick.
Parcells knows talent, and he surrounds himself with competent people who he either : a. Trained, or B. is training. He will lay an organizational foundation that will make the Falcons competitive sooner than later. He will clear out the deadwood, and fill that roster with talent AND good citizens. I also believe he will hire a former black assistant of his as head coach, a guy who played for him on the giants.
People said he couldn't work for Jerry Jones, but he did for 4 years. Bill is 65, I bet he stays 3 to 5 years and gets Arthur Blanks team on track to the big Game.
He took a bad Giants franchise to two Super Bowls. He took over a mediocre Patriots franchise and drafts Bledsoe first thing. He turned the Jets around and took them to a conference championship where they eventually lost to Super Bowl Champion Denver.
Anybody want to argue how well he stocked that Dallas team for Wade Phillips? In the highly competetive NFL, Bill Parcells is a winner, and he will win in Atlanta, believe it.
Okay, so he won't make a winner in Atlanta, but I bet he does it in Miami, or wherever he goes tomorrow!
No more of The Weasel? And that means more Emmitt? NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Anyway, good luck to Parcells, he got a helluva deal here taking a 3-11 team.
