The Division Two Basketball Championship Has All The Excitement You Need

Saturday, March 28, 2009

Who cares that three of the four games last night were blowout? Especially when you have high scoring DII action the following day! Well high scoring is a bit of an overstatement, considering the final score was 56-53....in overtime, but it gave us the first official buzzer beater of March Madness....

With that win, Findlay also finished 36-0 on the season. Pretty impressive if you ask me. March officially got exciting....too bad no one was watching.

It is a shame that outside the mens D-1 elite 8, no one cares. I saw the ending of this game and it was exciting. Hopefully the elite 8 and final four will be like that.

D2 championship games have had a recent tradition of buzzer beaters, take the 2007 Winona v Barton game:

For a kid like Evans, who's a senior to make that shot, that may be the LAST competitive shot he'll ever have, (I assume he won't have a pro career, he avg. 5.4 this season). If it's his last, what an end!

And Brando showed about as much excitement as a robot.

Their nameis Findlay, they love to fight and they Hornswaggled the D-2 title on a walkoff three.

Sorry if this is a little nitpicky AA, but do you think you could make videos in full widescreen? I like watching these videos in fullscreen, and having a little box in the middle isn't as nice as filling the entire screen.

That being said, probably the 2nd best finish this postseason after that CBI game. Or CIT, whatever it was.

56-53 in OT ?

That makes them eligible to join the Little 11 or Big Least

Top level DII basketball isn't too bad. Plus most places crowds are small and tickets are dirt cheap. The starters can usually play with DI squads for a while, but the benches are really weak.

Findlay came out of the same conference as Grand Valley State, basically the Stanford of DII, winning the all-sports trophy each year and dominating in everything.

They also had the DII women's championship on earlier this weekend, with a halftime score of 58-56.

ESPN had some trouble with their graphics in that one starting about the 3:54 mark of the second half.

I was at the game working, and he drilled this shot about 10 feet in front of me. The atmosphere was amazing.
