Kerry Wood Says Hi To The Viewing Audience

Saturday, June 28, 2008

The White Sox and Cubs were tied in the 7th inning today when FOX decided to go to a quick shot of Kerry Wood. Well Wood had a message for the viewing audience....

I don't think there has ever been a more perfectly timed shot of an MLB player in the history of television. Good work FOX and a great job by you Thom Brennaman playing it off.

Cubs Fans Give Marty Brennaman Some Ammo

Tuesday, April 22, 2008

I still think there are dumb and drunk fans in every stadium, but this video might put the Cubs fans a little bit ahead of every other team. From the "throwing the balls" series in which Brennaman flipped out, comes this clip of a hot dog eating contest in the stands.

It's never good when you A) Lose to a woman in an eating contest and/or B) Almost dying and needing the Heimlich Maneuver. Via Frog Soda....

I love how it's a Reds fan that saves the guy. See you CAN get along with fans from other teams at the stadium! If you're reading Marty Brennaman....you're welcome.

Marty Brennaman Isn't Apologizing For Remarks Directed At Cubs Fans

Monday, April 21, 2008

All of Chicago is cursing the name Brennaman these days, but Marty has a message for you Chicagoans.....he doesn't care. Late Friday MB was on WMVP-AM 1000 and wasn't taking ANY of his comments back....

"If they can't understand what happened Wednesday night was completely over the top, then I'm sorry," Brennaman said. "I said how tough it is to root for the Cubs. I think a lot of people feel the same way I do, but they won't articulate it. I'm not afraid to say what I think."

Later on, Brennaman said, "[Compared to Cubs fans] Cardinals fans are hands down the best in baseball. They respect the game. They don't go to the game to do stupid stuff.

"The Cubs have some great baseball fans. But the ones who act like idiots (ruin) it for people like me."
The thing I don't understand is that there are drunk asses in every single stadium. I don't know how you could single out Cubs' fans as the worst, especially when the crime was throwing batting practice baseballs on the field.

Oh and I also heard a rumor that Brennamania cursed at Jeff Brantley on-air this past Saturday, but can't find it anywhere. If anyone can point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it.

Get Off Marty Brennaman's Lawn You Cubs Fans!

Friday, April 18, 2008

I'm still trying to figure what was happening during this audio clip, but apparently some Cubs fans are throwing multiple balls onto the field and Marty Brennaman is none to happy with them.....

Man that escalated quickly didn't it? It's okay to say the fans are annoying at times, but saying that's why you "hope they lose" on-air is a bit unprofessional. Brennamania baby! It's sweeping the nation.....one homertastic clip at a time.

(Thanks to AK for the clip)

Fox Baseball's Opening Weekend

Friday, April 04, 2008

We already know FOX's schedule for this Saturday but do you know which game you're getting yet? Well now you do thanks to reader MS. Here's the breakdown of which major cities are getting which contests this Sunday (All start at 3:55pm)....

New York Mets vs. Atlanta Braves- Joe Buck, Tim McCarver & Ken Rosenthal
MARKETS INCLUDE: Atlanta, Austin, Baltimore, Birmingham, Buffalo, Charlotte, Cincinnati, Fort Myers, Greensboro, Greenville, Hartford, Houston, Jacksonville, Knoxville, Memphis, Miami, Nashville, New Orleans, New York, Norfolk, Oklahoma City, Orlando, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Raleigh, Richmond, San Antonio, St. Louis, Tampa, Tulsa, Washington, West Palm Beach

Chicago White Sox vs. Detroit Tigers- Thom Brennamman and Jose Mota
MARKETS INCLUDE: Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, Columbus, Dallas, Dayton, Detroit, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Louisville, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Providence, Seattle

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. San Diego Padres- Matt Vasgersian and Eric Karros
MARKETS INCLUDE: Albuquerque, Denver, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Portland, Sacramento, Salt Lake City, San Diego, San Francisco
Obviously most of us are getting the Buck/McCarver game, but a few lucky cities get to do without the duo. In other FOX Baseball News they network has hired former Braves and O's Hitting Coach Leo Mazzone as an analyst. The guy is a genius but I really can't remember hearing him talk.

(Thanks again to reader MS for the tip)

The Great Cincinnati Clutch Debate

Thursday, April 03, 2008

About four of you have emailed me this morning telling me I had to find the FSN Ohio feed of Thom Brennaman and Jeff Brantley arguing over how clutch Edwin Encarnacion is. Well thanks to With Leather I can now share it with you.....

"Is It Clutch?!?!"- Thom Brennaman

Bam! Now that is the highest form of comedy right there. It's not often that an announcer totally bashes a player and in the next moment that player completely shuts him/her up. Good for you Edwin and welcome to Brennamania, Jeff Brantley!

Familar Faces In New Places: ESPN Adds Two Writers

Monday, August 13, 2007

It's been awhile since I've done a "FINP", so I thought I'd throw a few out there. Here are a few folks making the move to new endeavours......

J.A. Adande- You might be as surprised as I am to read this, but apparently J.A. was not employed by ESPN as a writer up until today. For as much time as he spends on the network you'd think he'd have a cubical or something. He will focus mainly on writing about the NBA, but could become a talking head fixture like Michael Smith (AA can tolerate both so good move there).

Howard Bryant- The former Washington Post writer will be contributing a blend of columns, investigative reporting, and "long form" to the Leader. One of his first assignments will be to add content to ESPN the Mag. He's another great writer who's penned a few books.....another good addition.

Ike Reese- The former NFL linebacker was one of the few NFLers that got to go through the Broadcasting Boot Camp earlier this, and he now has a job from it. Reese is taking over for Ron Jaworski as the lead analyst during the Philadelphia Eagles Pre-Season Games. You'll also see Ike on Comcast and WIP this year if you live in or near Philly.

Also.....Brennamania is staying in Cincy for a few more years. The Reds signed Marty Brennaman to a 3-year extension.
