Not only has Fran Tarkenton taken on the great Brett Favre, by calling the Vikings interest in him "despicable", but he's now moved onto ESPN analysts. After his comments on Tuesday, Marcellus Wiley called Tarkenton a "grumpy old man", and the former QB decided to lay into the analyst. Via Sports Radio Interviews....

“Marcellus Wiley, who is trying to parlay a minimal football career into still making more money. This grumpy old man is 69 years old, I own six businesses, I’ve built 16 over the years, I’m paying my taxes, I’ve started two new businesses, we’re hiring more people, we’re not laying them off, we’re not cutting their salaries — we’re increasing their salaries, and in this society we are productive when so many people are not productive. I’m not playing croquette down at Orlando at the Villages, I’m not playing golf every day, I’m out there as a 69 year old … making money out of sports or with sports — I’m creating and building businesses from the ground up: that’s this grumpy old man.”

Now that's a comeback, and definitely hilarious. It's rare that people get to respond to comments made about them on ESPN, so good for Tark to say something. Especially when he's speaking in the best interests of the Vikings.

NFL Live always puts on a great show, and I've said it's one of the best shows ESPN has, but yesterday they took it to a whole new level. Trey Wingo and company took a field trip outdoors to talk how weather affects play on the Football field. Watch closely in the background for an extra special guest who is keeping watch over the proceedings....

Whoever that was, played the role of Belichick perfectly. I thought it was John Clayton at first, but he had a little bit of a breakdown earlier in the show.

I have no idea what that was, but hopefully it wasn't anything serious like a seizure. I'm thinking it was an earpiece issue or perhaps a wicked migraine.

I've been purposely trying to avoid everything Brett Favre but I can't seem to escape it. I said before that ESPN hasn't really had a choice to beat this story to death in the midst of a slow Summer, but they're doing yet another live Sports Center based today on Favre and Favre alone. If you're near a TV around 12:30, you might want to avoid ESPN....

ESPN will present a SportsCenter special today at 12:30 p .m. ET featuring live coverage of Brett Favre’s arrival at Green Bay Packers camp for a physical examination and a conditioning test all players must pass before they are placed on the 80-man active roster.

Co-hosts Chris McKendry and Robert Flores will be joined by Mike Golic and Marcellus Wiley for the one-hour special, with Ed Werder and Wendi Nix reporting from Green Bay.

Beyond coverage of Favre’s return to camp, McKendry and Flores will also present other breaking news in the world of sports, as they will do from noon-3 p.m. when SportsCenter goes live weekday mornings starting Monday, Aug. 11. Hannah Storm and Josh Elliott will anchor the 9 a.m.-noon portion of the new six-hour block of live weekday SportsCenters preceding McKendry and Flores.

Just wanted you to know in case you either A) Wanted to watch the "Brett Favre Weigh-in" or B) Wanted to avoid it entirely. I also want to say that I truly enjoy Wendi Nix on reports, but even she can tell she's worn out her welcome in Green Bay. You might want to get a few people into the rotation because we all know you're not leaving anytime soon.

Sports Center was talking about how Wes Welker called out former teammate Asanti Samuel earlier in the week when they decided to go to NFL analyst Marcellus Wiley ("Dat Dude") for some commentary...

Ummm okay? I love how the Sports Center anchor (I think Josh Elliot) just says alright and moves on. It's rare that ESPN lets someone provide analysis by quoting trendy Rap music other than Stu Scott. Interesting.

Oh and Wiley is also going on that "Millionaire Dating Show" sometime soon. Keep your eyes peeled.
