"Dat Dude" Has A Message For Wes Welker

Tuesday, July 01, 2008

Got another clip from the Deadspin Morning Wake Up Call that needs a spot here like the Dickie V one below. Sports Center was talking about how Wes Welker called out former teammate Asanti Samuel earlier in the week when they decided to go to NFL analyst Marcellus Wiley ("Dat Dude") for some commentary...

Ummm okay? I love how the Sports Center anchor (I think Josh Elliot) just says alright and moves on. It's rare that ESPN lets someone provide analysis by quoting trendy Rap music other than Stu Scott. Interesting.

Oh and Wiley is also going on that "Millionaire Dating Show" sometime soon. Keep your eyes peeled.

(Sorry for the late start today. Had some power issues but we're up and running now.)

Was there a point to that?

At all?

Did he give us any news? Did he give us an reason for his opinion? He just said that Welker was wrong and then used a really bad Kanye reference.

That may be the worst "analysis" I've ever heard on SportsCenter and that's saying something.

The line is "Wake Up Mr. West" and it's not even Kanye's line it's delivered by Cedric the Entertainer on the CD and it's on the first track of "Late Registration" not the second. If your going to use a bad rap line use it right.

And secondly how did Welker chose money over Championships when Miami chose to let him go. He was TRADED for a second and seventh round pick when Miami didn't match the offer.

he needs to get the facts straight, but that would be to much to ask. Welker was traded to NE. Also, you can't compare the two contracts. Welker got a mediocre deal that he's already out played. Asante went for top dollar, plain and simple. I don't Asante for doing it, especially for NFL players. They need to maximize their guaranteed money, but what Welker said was correct. He didn't leave for a better opportunity to win the Super Bowl.

anon.....you said it best, welker was traded by the fins to the pats. The only way that "analysis" would be somewhat valid is if Welker made these comments and then holds out for Fitzgerald or T.O. money, but he hasn'and he won't. So Shut up Dat Dude.

Asante = 2 rings
Wes = 0 rings

Dat Dude provided no real analysis but he essentially told Welker to know his role and let people with actual rings do the talking.

it was bernie mac that said it on late registration. and whoever made the executive decision to let that on the air ought to burn in hell.

Did Welker conclude the interview by flashing his AFC CHAMPIONSHIP ring?

This segment was horrendous...Wiley is a classic hater of all teams and players that 'wronged' him throughout his career.

What a douche.

When were the Patriots awarded this upcoming years title?!?! It's not like they won it last year...sounds like the players are as smug and arrogant as the fans are. Win a title first THEN u can call out others.
