Let's Play The Feud: Minor League Brawl Edition

Friday, July 25, 2008

Silly me, I thought the WNBA fight was entertaining. What happens when there are multiple incidents in one inning, two managers who are ready to throw down and a pitcher that is currently in jail?!?! Ladies and Gentlemen I give you the Dayton Dragons and the Peoria Chiefs. LET'S PLAY THE FEUD!!!!

I'd normally praise a good basebrawl but the dickhead pitcher that tried to hit the opposing dugout ended up nailing a fan in the stands. That fan was with his wife and two kids and is now in the hospital....
Via WTDN: "Both benches cleared when Chiefs pitcher Julio Castillo fired a baseball toward the Dragons dugout. The ball missed the dugout, and hit a fan sitting in the stands.

It took several minutes for Dayton police officers to calm the melee. Castillo was arrested and booked into the Montgomery County Jail. He faces a felonious assault charge.

The brawl delayed the game for one hour and nine minutes.

Baseball fan John Isenbarger said, "This is the most insane baseball game I've ever been to. It was complete chaos."

Via ABC22 In Dayton: The hit fan was taken to the Miami Valley hospital conscious, no word yet to the extent of his injuries. He had come to the game with his wife and two children.
So we know why the guy is in the Minors, but seriously....he should never pitch again in any league. Unbelievable.

Rob Dibble should show this guy how it's really done.

Didn't the Cubs draft the punk college kid who beaned the on-deck batter about 8 years ago. At least that guy hit his target. Stay classy, Wrigleyville.

You are right that the guy should never be allowed to pitch in any league again, but any scouts watching him try to throw a ball into the dugout and having it go into the stands should be enough to say he shouldn't pitch in any league again.

Are we sure his name isn't LaLoosh del Nuke?

Just another feather in Dayton's cap for being the worst city ever.

I've been to a few Dragons games (even got on to the field as a little leaguer), but nothing like this ever happened. And I agree with anon and gmoney; Find yourself in the wrong part of Dayton, you're most likely to get jumped by a crackhead (not joking).

So this clip doesn't make the Dayton Chamber of Commerce DVD? "...And if you're a sports fan, come on out and take in a Dragons game! You might just get a chance to hit off the opposing pitcher... from your seat!"

Two-seamer or four-seamer?

I'm glad everyone else seemed to pick up on my initial thought...how much of a pitcher can the guy be if he missed a DUGOUT?
