How Easily Does An Australian Rules Football Player Crossover To The NFL?
Wednesday, August 15, 2007
This easy....(wait for it.....wait for it!)
That was Australian Football player Sav Rocca who hadn't played a down in the NFL, and HE GOT......Blah Blah! That hit was about as necessary as this post.

back in the day before espn was sold to disney. i used to watch aussie football all the time...it took n.f.l. teams this long to start recruiting guys from there... they should have been doing that years ago.
Sav took way harder hits when he was playing Aussie football. He was laughing about it on the sideline. Maybe it's my mancrush, maybe it's the summer heat, but this guy is tough.
Toughness aside, that is a bullshit hit on a player who looks to be nowhere near the ball. Isn't that a penalty, or are all players fair game once a return is in progress?
Sean Taylor thinks both these guys are pussies.
I agree with it being a Bullshit hit. I watched NFL Live yesterday (I'm sorry...) and a few "experts" on there were talking about how it was a good clean hit and the punter needs to realize that "After you kick the ball, a football game might just break out afterward."
Now, if we turned that situation around. Lets say Peyton Manning threw a deep pass that was picked off and a DT lit him up like this in a pre-season game every "expert" out there would be talking about how "This is only the pre-season there is no need to do that. blah blah blah"
Just pissed me off... might be my man crush too though.
With any luck, that Ravens player is already cut. That shit is bush league.
That punt was ridiculous btw. 70 yards?!?!
Seriously though, Jeff is right on with his take.
I honestly thought the point of the post was that the dude could seriously kick! I mean, he just drove down there and showed how he could boom it.
Cheap shot though...shows you a lot about that player. But perfectly legal.
Hey, it was an international incident when Warren Sapp did that to Chad Clifton.
Also, IKE MOTHERFUCKING REESE. Fox or NBC needs to pick him up immediately. The guy is pure entertainment.
(ESPN would ruin him, of course.)
That shit happens in Aussie Rules Football with NO PADDING! That's why he got straight back up! Good on ya Sav!!!
It was not perfectly legal. The guy led with the helmet, which is perfectly illegal. I am also very surprised that Gus Johnson or his color analyst failed to mention the guy leading with the helmet. That is as cheap as it comes.
I bet that hurts more than a Woody Paige ass-slap on his makeup artist!
