Peyton Joins The Tiki-Eli Fray
Thursday, August 23, 2007
I'm just now catching up on this stupid feud thing, but apparently Ronde decided to help Tiki out on the radio the other day. He went on for two hours about Eli's "testes dropping" and that it's Tiki's job "to be controversial". Well this didn't make one Peyton Williams Manning too happy.....
“Ex-players truly become ex-players right away, the No. 1 job is to criticize players. I’m pretty defensive of all quarterbacks. Eli is my brother. I’m very loyal to my family. I’d rather you criticize me. I don’t think anybody knows what it’s like to be a quarterback except a current quarterback. Sometimes former quarterbacks forget what’s it’s like. You cannot play quarterback at any level — you’re in a leadership position. To do it for three years in high school, three years as a starter in college, taking your team to the playoffs — you are a leader and you’re a good leader."Aw, that is so cute! Big Brother sticking up for Little Brother, Twin sticking up for Twin. It's what brings families together.
Manning added: “It’s supposed to be a code, teammates to teammates. That’s the problem we’re going to have with ex-players going to the media. When I retire, I know what I don’t want to do.”
I'm actually inclined to agree with Peyton here, but let's get real. This is what media is nowadays. You criticise before you praise because that's what audiences eat up (this site is no different). I think Eli handled the situation just fine, and needs to focus on shutting everyone up during the season. Sorry Peyton, but this probably did him more harm than good.

P.S.- Can we perhaps grow up a bit Ronde and Tiki? That radio thing was pretty lame.

So is Peyton signing up to head the Committee on Stop Snitching. "It's supposed to be a code..." I hope he doesn't get too criticized for holding on such stupid cultural fantasies.
Who gives a shit, AA, I want to hear your opinion on the Redskins trading for Pete Kendall!!!
I loved Tiki as a player, but he needs to stop the self-important routine already.
For as much credit as Peyton receives (and deservedly so!), he's definitely outing him on the dirty little secret: no one messes with Peyton or his brother.
There have been Colts who have been let go from the organization if they dare question him, and he is fully capable of icing out reporters and anyone else who goes against his grain. He's not the only one, of course, but it's funny to see this unfold.
"The code." Let's sit back and watch Judas, er Tiki, take the whole scam down. Hehe.
I have to say, I'm 100% on the side of the Mannings here. If Tiki is the great player he claims to be, he's the one who needed to be the veteran leader -- not the third year quarterback.
I'm already sick of Tiki The Announcer. I can already tell he's going to be the type of guy who can just lob bombs at everybody and not get called on his bullshit because he has a pretty smile.
At this point, Tiki appears to be yet another unqualified ex-jock who has a job that is way above his head. He's Michael Irvin without the yelling.
You'd be just like Peyton is you were in his shoes...you know, sticking up for your retarded brother.
Eli still has a long ways to go before anyone will take his side. Sooner or later, Peyton will need to let Eli defend himself.
Guys, check out Spock's pictures of Eli and vote on the one's you think are best. The first picture is of Eli drinking with a hot girl lol

Is there any way that these "New York Controversies" could stay in New York? What other teams are doing on the field is ignored by the ESPNs of the world because they feel "obliged" to tell us the latest chapter of a New York Soap Opera, or which New York athlete appeared on the back page of some New York Tabloid.
In this age of the Internet and increasing globalism, there is no excuse to only depend on New York tabloids and radio stations to determine "what we're talking about."
And this is no indictment on this blog. This is a great blog, and I appreciate that you have to comment on it because they're commenting on it.
