Soccer Injuries Can Be Awesome

During the semifinal match between Germany and Turkey there was a pretty awesome collision of heads during the first half. Both players were blooded but it was the Turkish player who needed the staple gun brought out....
I love how the ref just starts laughing for some reason. Soccer is full of drama queens but this shows what really can go down. The German player even had to leave the game for stitches. Good times!
I won't ruin the end of the game if you're taping, but lightning out ESPN's feed, and is apparently was causing problems around the World. We missed about 20 minutes and the end of an amazing game. It doesn't appear to be ESPN's fault, but it was still crappy.
Didn't I tell you not having your commentators there was a bad idea? They could have at least had the audio of the commentators to let us know what was going on. Oh well.

This time, the loss of the feed wasn't ESPN's fault. The viewers in Germany, Great Britain, Spain, France and China didn't have the picture.
German television even used the feed from Swiss television, so the viewers in Germany missed only about 5 minutes.
ESPN actually did us all a favor.
That is pretty bad-ass, getting your head stapled (!!) in the middle of a game. I still think they need a flopping violation like they're talking about for the NBA. That's what makes soccer unwatchable for me. I really enjoy watching World Cup games and other big matches, but by the end of them I always feel slightly pissed off at all the faking.
Why could ESPN get the feed of the Fan Zone outside the stadium, but not the feed inside the stadium? Would the lightning strike take that out as well?

I was watching it at work on 360. And it wasn't the Internet's fault! How many Americans watched it on 360 today, at work? 5, 10?

The replay (without technical difficulties) was supposed to start on ESPN Classic @ 9pm.

@jay: Soccer does have a flopping violation. Simulating a foul or injury is supposed to draw a yellow card from the referee. And you can't argue that other popular sports- pro football (running into the kicker), MLB (I swear that pitch hit my arm!), NBA/Col Basketball ("taking a charge"), doesn't have just as big a problem.
On another note, the Euro final should be HUGE! Looking forward to it down here in Australia.
Here in Britain we lost pictures for about 15 minutes total, in 2 separate spots. We missed Germany's goal to take the lead 2-1, but we saw the end of the match.

I'm certainly not the biggest soccer fan out there, but even I tuned into the ESPN Classic replay. Well, that and the fact the Tigers lead the Majors in 2 1/2 hour rain delays. FSN Detroit: Kenny Rogers grew up on a strawberry farm. We know.

yea that was pretty awesome but with all due respect here there needs to be a post about fresno state winning the college world series. they were a 4 seed in regionals which is the equivalent of a 13-16 seeded team winning the NCAA basketball tourney. they only made the tournament for the automatic bid from winning the WAC conference tournament. this is undoubtedly the greatest Cinderella story in the history of college sports.
HOLY CRAP I just saw a commercial for the Olympics or something with Morgan Freeman narrating and was unbelievable. You HAVE to put this online. Is it the start of a summer full of Morgan Freeman-narrated commercials?!? I hope so...
