The Plot Thickens, Joe Morgan Was In The ASG Parade!
Thursday, July 17, 2008
Yesterday's post about Joe Morgan brought up a ton of questions but thanks to reader NS, we've now got a new wrinkle in the "Where Is Joe" saga (it's not really a saga, but it sounds better as one). Joe was actually on hand for the festivities early in the day....gasp! Here is your visual evidence....
There obviously has to be a simple answer to our...well my...question, but I'm still thinking it has something due to appearing with Sandberg. If anyone knows anything feel free to pass on an email, but I'm going to keep searching until I get to the bottom of this (pointless) issue!

and i dont know what sandberg has to do with it. he was better than ryne.
He has a white wife? And did you notice the sweat under his shirt?
I don't remember any Sox there either. No Fisk, Yaz or Doerr. Interesting
1. Pete, I doubt Fox would be so shortsighted as to omit a HOFer just because he works for a rival. Nowadays all the networks cross promote anyway
2. Anon, his wife doesn't look white to me, perhaps Latina
3.Madnice, WE all know he was better than Ryne, Joe knows he was better that Ryne, but AAs point is that Morgan is so egotistical and holds grudges that he won't appear in public with the guy who broke his HR record
AA, didn't someone suggest yesterday that he was doing the ESPN radio broadcast of the game? Any truth to that?
Forgot to add that....that's a negative J. He wasn't on the radio at all.
Interesting about all the living Red Sox HOFers being absent, too. Well, Boggs was there, but he's a different case than Yaz, Fisk, and Doerr. Maybe they thought it was better not to attend so the crowd didn't start lustily booing Hall of Famers, which would have taken away from the moment.
I can't imagine that it was a ban on other networks' employees, as much cross-promotion and inter-network interaction as goes on these days. Not that they have the same high profile as Morgan, but the attendees included employees of other networks like Eckersley, Carter, and Sutton.
Then the plot does thicken (hence your spot-on headline)
The first thing I thought while watching was "where's Morgan, Fisk and Bench?"
I mean Gary 'Goldilocks' Carter over Bench & CF? Really? Something is afoot, and we need you to get to the bottom of it, AA!
James, you're right Boggs was there, but he was wearing a Yanks hat even though he went into the HOF with a Sox cap. I kind of thought that was shitty.
Boggs should have held up a Devil Rays hat.
Yeah, that was obviously an effort to play to the crowd that loved him in NY while also sticking it to the Red Sox. Even though management and ownership has changed since his acrimonious departure, I guess he hasn't gotten over the tiff with the Sox. But hey, at least it wasn't as bad as Clemens wearing the Yankees cap during the living legends ceremony at Fenway.
Dave Winfield was wearing his Padres cap but brought a Yankee cap along and waved it in the air when he was introduced. I didn't have any problem with that, but Boggs should have been required to wear the cap on his HOF plaque.
THAT's Joe Morgan's wife? I think I hate him even more now, she's gorgeous!
Bench had commitments at a charity golf tournmanet in Minneapolis, so he couldn;t make it. Thats why he wasn't there. it was in the Twin Cities papers yesterday.
those are his daughters
the woman behind him in the other picture is his wife
"Yesterday's post about Joe Morgan brought up a ton of questions..."
Gee, aa, I thought people wrote stories to answer questions...
I thought people made posts on blogs to make sense...
Yaz never shows up at events like these. He hasn't shown up in Cooperstown on induction weekend in YEARS.
Just throwing this out there with nothing to back it up, and sorry if it has already been mentioned... but maybe Fox didn't want Joe on the field because he works for ESPN. Could be a ban on other networks commentators. I don't know though, Joe and Tim were on PTI that day, so obviously ESPN doesn't care about putting Fox's people on their air. Again, just throwing that out there.
