Two Sports Radio Personalities Fight On Radio Row
Friday, January 30, 2009
Of all the things that could happen on Radio Row during Super Bowl Week, this was not one that I could imagine. It turns out that two feuding stations/broadcasters, one from Baltimore and one from Dallas, decided to throw down this afternoon. From Dallas Sports Fans via Deadspin....
This morning on Radio Row at Super Bowl 43 in Tampa, “Nasty Nestor” Aparicio, a controversial Baltimore radio host attacked Gordon Keith. The incident is the latest in an on-going feud between Nasty Nestor and the Ticket.Well then! If there's anything lamer than a media feud, it's gotta be a Sports Radio feud. After the banquet lunch, and my interview with Frank Caliendo, let's settle this at the
Apparently, Gordon Keith went over to Nasty Nestor Arapicio with a wireless microphone to attempt to bury the hatchet between the two parties, when Nasty Nestor became angry, grabbed Gordon Keith around the throat and attempted to strangle him. The two were then separated and the police were called.
This is not the first incident between Nasty Nestor and the Ticket. In 2008, at the Super Bowl coverage, Corby Davidson went to Nasty Nestor to make peace. Nestor Arapicio began swearing at Corby Davidson and accused him of having a hidden mic, to which Corby responded, “I swear to the good Lord I do not have a microphone.” Nasty Nestor then called Corby a “(Explitive)-ing Jew.”
If anyone has audio of the exchange, I'd love to hear it.

yeah what that guy said
http://www.theunticket.com has the audio
The Ticket was rolling live on their WebCam but the video wasn't recorded.
They finally found "Nasty Nestor" at the 7:15 mark. That's not the best audio in the world.
You can see the webcam video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=871WONRsvm8 if you like. You can't see the attack itself because the camera wasn't actually on them until immediately after the attack, but you can hear it, and you can see Nestor coming after him a second time before his crew held him back.
It's hard for me to take the guys seriously as an innocent "victim" when among their most popular audio clips is something called "George Brett shits himself." That said, I'm from Baltimore and Nestor is in fact a complete and utter asshole.
Don't get me wrong, Gordo is an instigator, but the Ticket has tried for YEARS to extend the olive branch to Nestor (they have a hard time remembering what started the whole thing). Nestor has refused despite what seems to be the best efforts from multiple members of the Ticket staff...what really muddies the waters is the Ticket listeners carpetbomb Nestor's radio station after every incident, and have destroyed his wikipedia page dozens of times. Nestor seems to be the douchiest of douchebags, a glorified jock sniffer, and a whiny crybaby (he has run to the NFL almost everytime before the Ticket has attempted to bury the hatchet and painted a picture of the Ticket instigating a problem...the NFL PR guy that the Ticket talked to immediately after the incident this morning was seemingly sticking up for Nestor because of his past complaints).
The whole thing is silly, but I think that Gordo is gonna follow through with the case to teach the douche a lesson. I listened to Nestor's show a little today to see if he spoke of the incident (which I didn't hear it if he did), and I swear the show is nearly unlistenable. I don't even know what misdemeanor battery gets you in terms of a penalty, but for the sake of Baltimore I hope it involves taking his show off the air (yes, I know he owns the station so there is no chance of it, but I can always dream)
Nasty Nestor A.K.A. Elmer Fudd strikes again. Chokes human being (ALLEGEDLY)!
Film at 11.
No, wait tape at 10.
Well, o.k. web cam at 9.
"Nasty Nestor" sounds like a prison nickname.
