Barcelona Dominates Man U In UEFA Champions Final
Wednesday, May 27, 2009
Since I didn't have anything better this afternoon, I decided to grab each of the goals during Barcelona's win over Manchester United this afternoon. Eto'o and Messi were your goal scores during the 2-0 win, with Messi's goal being a complete thing of beauty. Here are those goals and a few other highlights from ESPN's last broadcast of the Champions League Final....

More Cable Interruption News
Thursday, February 05, 2009
It's not exactly porn, but a 118th minute goal by Everton was missed by thousands who tuned in to watch the team's matchup in the Merseyside derby against Liverpool. Right before Dan Gosling kicked the winning goal, English broadcaster ITV jumped to a commercial, and while some viewers got back in time to witness the excellent goal....most just saw this....
How maddening must that be? At least in the porn incident, Arizona fans got to see the Fitzgerald TD. In this case, the timing was just awful. ITV has rightfully been getting hammered by viewers, but this isn't even the first incident with the channel this year. During a match between Histon and Leeds, the network accidentally ran dressing room footage of a naked player.

What Did He Just Say About Dutch Ovens And Toast?
Friday, June 13, 2008
Hilarious, hilarious call from the Netherlands-France game today. Listen closely to Adrian Healey's reaction after the Netherlands third goal....
"It's a Dutch oven and the French are toast!"
I'm pretty sure Healey has no idea what the term "Dutch Oven" means in the U.S. which makes it even funnier in my book. And with that I wish you a happy Friday!

Pens Force Game Six In 3OTs, Sykora Calls His Shot
Monday, June 02, 2008
I can't believe I watched basically two full Hockey games tonight, but it was such an amazing Game Five that it was completely worth it. The OT was ridiculously intense, and the added bonus of having no commercials made the 110 minutes just fly by.
While the refs tried to decide the game in the first two OTs with some crappy calls, it was a high-sticking call in the third that provided the game winner from Petr Sykora. A goal that he told Pierre McGuire he was going to score between plays earlier in the 2nd overtime.....
Pretty badass to go up to a Hockey sideline reporter (let's be honest...that's what he is) and say you're going to score and then pull it off. The Red Wings were dominating those overtimes up until that penalty, so I don't see the Penguins winning this thing, but with a game at home and then a Game Seven....anything could happen.

Chelsea's Goat Scores For England Against The U.S.
Wednesday, May 28, 2008
Hopefully this isn't a spoiler for you, but John Terry just headed home a goal on a free kick send from David Beckham to put England up 1-0 in a friendly against the U.S. today (or this evening in England)...
You could see the relief on his face after that one and every teammate came up and gave him a hug. Good stuff and nice goal.
David Beckham Makes A 60-Yard Goal, Seriously
Monday, May 26, 2008
I have no idea why you would ever take your goalie out in Soccer, but doing so brought us this Beckham highlight from late Saturday night....
I've seen players do that before with a goalie in net but that's still pretty impressive.
Man U Wins It On Penalty Kicks After Terry Slips
Wednesday, May 21, 2008
Unbelievable. I know I'm in the minority here, but I love penalty kicks. It's so damn intense and this shootout was no different. Here it is in its entirety....
Ronaldo and Terry both missed and what a save by Van der Sar. Fun times and I'm officially stoked for Euro 2008.
