Isiah Thomas Finally Address Alleged Suicide Attempt On Sports Center
Wednesday, April 15, 2009
Isiah Thomas conducted his first major interview with ESPN this afternoon, and the former Knicks coach talked about everything from his Golf game, to chatting with Bob Knight, to his desire to "build something from the ground up". But the best part of the interview was by far Chris McKendry springing questions on him about the sexual harassment lawsuit filed against him, and even his supposed suicide attempt. McKendry even flat out asked him if it was a suicide attempt, and Thomas couldn't say that it wasn't. Here's the clip....
Well that was certainly awkward, but great job by McKendry in asking the tough questions. I still find it out that he didn't address the suicide thing when it happened, but if the man says he wants to live, you have to take him on his word. Oh and as far as him coaching, I guess building something from the ground up is much easier if you haven't spent years destroying it. There is something to hiring a big name like Isiah coaching in the College game though. I'm sure some kids would attend on name recognition alone.

"Survive And Advance" Debuts, Is Actually Rather Entertaining
Monday, March 16, 2009
I caught a bit of the Packer-Knight show, "Survive and Advance", and I have to say that I was rather impressed. The two had on Isiah Thomas and Quinn Buckner, and the group discussed a lot of Tournament related topics, but none more interesting than the story of the 1981 Championship Game, and how it was almost postponned. Ronald Reagan was shot earlier in the day on March 30th, 1981, and both Knight and Thomas recalled the events of the day....
All My Children, huh Isiah? That explains a lot. Seriously though, the show was actually pretty entertaining, and the breakdown of the best players at each position in the Tournament, was extremely informative. Billy Packer even laughs during the show!
Check it out if you get a chance. It's on every Sunday, throughout the Tourney, at midnight.

Reggie Miller Thinks Knicks Fans Have Jumped The Shark
Wednesday, February 04, 2009
Reggie Miller talked with CBS Sports recently, about Kobe Bryant being cheered in Madison Square Garden during his 61 point performance, and the former "Knick Killer" was less than impressed with Knick fans.
So, yes, Miller was watching Kobe Bryant's 61-point game against the Knicks Monday night. And yes, he was impressed. But he was also appalled that Knicks fans who used to torment him were chanting "MVP!" for Kobe. So appalled that he was texting his old nemesis throughout the game. There is no doubt that I feel bad for Knicks fans, but cheering for the enemy like that at home, is something that has always bothered me. Given that I'm a fan of all things DC Sports, I know this problem well. The only problem is that the cure for said problem is winning and just like most DC Sports teams not named the Capitals, that's not going to change any time soon. Unfortunately the same is true for one of the NBA's most storied franchises in the Knicks.
"I was texting Spike as the game was going on, saying how disappointed I was in the fans chanting "MVP!" for Kobe," Miller said Tuesday, speaking on a TNT pre-All-Star conference call. "I was like, 'How the mighty have fallen.'" Because I remember in times past, I never got cheered. I'm sure Jordan never got cheered. And now they are chanting "MVP!" for Kobe? And all (Lee) kept doing was texting back and going, 'Look, times have changed. The climate has changed.'
"I wish I would've gotten the red carpet treatment when I went to the Garden," Miller said. "That would've been nice."

(P.S.- Yes, I know the phrase "jump the shark" has "jumped the shark". You will not be the first clever commenter to ever leave that on the site, so please give it a rest.)

Gus Johnson......RE-MIX!
Thursday, October 30, 2008
It's been a long time since Gus Johnson had something to get excited about in regards to the Knicks. While my Wizards were busy losing to the f'ing Nets on their opening night, the Knicks were busy running and dunking over the Heat. In the second quarter, Gus lets out a huge "Hell Yes!" after a put-back dunk from Wilson Chandler, and the good folks at Tirico Suave decided to remix it for us....
Amazing. Obviously it's drawn out a bit long, but if you're following along with the photos and the beat....it's pretty well done. In fact, it is now my new ringtone. Hell Yes!

Jeff Van Gundy Doesn't Have Much Respect For Isiah
Thursday, June 26, 2008
Jeff Van Gundy sat down to do an interview with SNY's Gary Apple recently and the ESPN analyst and ex-Knicks Coach had some interesting things to say about another former Knicks Coach, Isiah Thomas....
It's interesting that this video surfaced on the day of the NBA Draft, but it goes to show you just how many people can't stand Isiah. How he kept that job for so long is just beyond me.
